/too much time with nothing to do thought line on

i think that a large part of why theres been so much tod change greif might have something to do with this:

so many ppl (not all but so many) belive that dps is all and u MUST be maxed out dps to enjoy the game and have had this mentality for so long. along came the monk. it was said to have sub par dps so ppl didnt bother messing around with it too much. then came tod and the multiple procs. suddenly! dark monks are up close to the big boys for dps and the word spreads so ppl come and try em out and the fame grows because...gasp...monks are fun! improved evasion, high saves, sr, speed, abundant step, lots of cool attacks, shadow fade, natural immunities epic dr.....the list goes on. and all this with big boy dps!...........too good to be true anyone? monks arent SUPPOSED to be one of the biggest dps classes, look again at all the awesome abilities, that is supposed to be the draw and having all that with crazy dps is too much good for one class where diversity is encouraged!

but all these ppl had tasted the joy of being a monk, and actually ENJOYED the class for more then just dps. like come on when u have somethin cool to look fw to virtually every time u lvl the lvl grind is more fun and those abilities all add up to a super cool end game class.

but then reality hits again and the dark monk takes a bit of a hit to dps (tho imo nowhere near as bad as so many are makin it out to be!) and ppl just cant stand this! one of the most fun classes ever and now its no longer seems to be the all important big boy dps :(

to be perfectly honest they are still more then adequate dps, certainly more then the shintao still, which was the idea, but its now bank in the rank of dps that its supposed to be in. ppl were trying to make it into something its not, but enjoyed wat it IS too much and now rue the reality.

addmitedly multi classes did get hit a fair bit harder then pures (tho imo, other then just a few monks lvls, monks i think are the class that was always supposed to benefit the most from being pure), and i fuloly agree that devs should give some kind of compensation to those who have to reincarnate to be 'playable' in their tastes again.

just my wild thinkin while washin the dishes :D troll away!

Disagree about the 'found they had so much to offer' == was in a titan raid, 3 times since the change, trying to get a monk to abundant step in the blue room. ALL 3 of these 'dark monks' didn't even KNOW they had the skill.

No, its because they got a nice, easy piece of candy, and like any greedy child, once they got their hands around that sweet candy, they don't want to let go.

Like: how do u catch a monkey? U put a banana in a box with a hole. Monkey reaches in, grabs banana, and suddenly is stuck cuz he can't get his hand out of the box. The ToD is the banana, and our dark monks(the ones stuck on the 'wah wah wah, u broke me toon' thing) are the monkeys.

You don't need a way out there theory to explain why people are complaining.

-People built a dark monk for DPS. Some of these builds sacrificed things like wisdom, will save, AC, DCs, stunning fist to achieve even more DPS

-The new nerf will make ToD worthless against a significant portion of the game, and halve the damage of it for another significant portion of the game (end game mobs with high fort saves)

-People don't like the nerf so they complain.

Nothing complicated.
