What's good? What to aim for? My fighter is currently trip-specced as at 18 you really don't need to stun anything and he's been a lot of fun. I know stunning will be way more useful in Epics and all that stuff so I'm gonna swap out the feat . . .

The question is how many APs to spend? What's needed, I can hit a sustainable 43 DC (with a +10 Hammer) with with 6 points coming from APs spent, anymore would be kinda painful to pull off. Of course this will get higher as I get more STR gear and fun stuff like that but that what I should be able to get immediately at cap.

Good enough? Can I afford to go cheaper? Mostly concerned about nailing stuff in epics.

Come on, I know there's a lot to talk about right now but somebody's gotta be able to take a break for the TOD DDDOOOOOOOMMMM!!!! threads to let me know what DC is viable :)

43 stun dc is great for most things I think...

Well, it's a Fort save, right? What's the usual advice for how high you need to get your DC on spells with Fort saves (e.g., Cloudkill) to keep them useful?

Low 40s works on epic, but you won't land it 100% of the time, in my experience.

Edit: adding a few thoughts... If I recall correctly, the DC needed for the vale is "in the 30s." High 30s and low 40s works reliably in Amrath (most missed stuns are due to letting kensai burst run out or something similar.) Low 40s continues to work well enough to attempt on epic content. I can't give you an exact percentage, but my sense is that low 40s works somewhere in the 50%-75% range on epic.

Mid 40s is good for sb on epics.
But stunning blow has a fundamental deficit: It doesn't last long enough. The duration of the stun is much lower than the cooldown of sb, so you can't perma-stun mobs (which is the target on epics)
If you want a really good seriel stunner, try out my 12/8 kensai monk build ;)

You definately want a mid 40's stun for EPIC Content. I run EPICS with a monk guildie who's stunning fist is a DC 38 and he only lands it ~70% of the time. My WF 20 Ftr has a DC 45 Stun, which probably lands 85% of the time.

Trip seems to suck on EPIC, at least in my experience, the save is very high and even when they fail they get back up rather quickly. Improved Trip DC is 48.

45 is pretty much no fail in my experience on caster type mobs in VoN epics. It will fail occasionally on melees. If they succeed on the stun save follow it up immediately with a trip and the cool down doesn't hurt so bad.

I'm currently 42 without power-surge and it worked VERY well in epic OoB last night. So fasr so good, I think I have +5 DCs from fighter and dorf tactics, only had to lose a few HP from toughness ENH to fit it in.
