I have a dex based halfling pure assasin rogue at level 18 and my strength modifier is listed as +5
However when get the popup hovering over my equiped weapon it only shows up as +2 for the damage mod.
Is this normal or is this broken?
Thanks.

Look at the + at the bottom of the inventory screen, not on the weapon itself.

Open your inventory and look at the bottom. That will show your attack bonus, weapon damage, and +damage with all your current modifiers added.

Since the questions been answered already, How did you get to level 18 without finding this out? o.0

Well, First off, i would have thought no big deal if it weren't for the "To Hit" modifier being right about it and actually listing the proper modifier.
If the "To hit" is correct then why is the strength bonus not listed properly?
Why did i not notice this earlier? I just never looked at the modifier listed on the weapon before.
It still seems broken to me. Not broken that i'm nto getting the proper modifier, just broken that it doesn't show up the same way as the "To Hit" above it.

Its not Listed wrong, you are looking in the wrong spot. You are looking at the Weapon Bonus. Not your Damage modifier.
Bottom of your Inventory page shows your damage with modifiers.

The dmg mod listed in the weapon tooltip is based off base str (Initial + Inherent).

Ok, i understand that the bottom of the inventory page lists all of the modifiers.
I still dont understand why the weapon itself shows the full modifier that will be used for to-hit and only a +2 for the modifier it will use for damage.
So far, no one has explained why those two are treated differently.

I have no idea what you are looking at. Post a screenshot and we'll tell you.

THF? TWF?
You will not get your full Str bonus if you're using TWF iirc.
Not specifically about you...but it drives me crazy when people say "to hit" and not "attack bonus" :\ This is D&D after all, right? lol

Not sure, but I'd guess a result of the weapon finesse feat making the tootip wonky.

First off, this is not me or my shot. Just ganked it off someone's image shack.

On my toon where it says attack mod it looks very similar except i have a +10 mod
Where it says damage mod, mine reads STR (+2)
Now i know i didn't have a starting dex high enough to give me a +10 mod and i know i have a +5 mod on strength right now.
So it used my current mod for Dex and my starting mod for Str?
Why would it do that?

The damage bonus on the weapon is based on the Enhancement on it, in this case, +6. (2d4 +6 )
The +2 Str damage you are looking it, is half of your Str modifier since you're holding a one handed weapon.
If it were a two handed weapon, you would get 1.5 times the Str modifier for damage.
I believe this is what you're asking about. Does that answer it?

a screenshot of YOUR item is better then some random screenshot cause then we can see your exact weapon and stats (if you keep your charsheet open) and can help you even better

I think justwin may have explained it though. Thank you.
I'll have to verify later.

I don't think it has anything to do with your strength, or being a two handed or one handed weapon.
The view on the weapon details tells you what stat is added to damage when it is used (usually STR, in the case of Midnight Greetings it is INT) and then beside it tells you what inherent damage bonus the weapon is giving.
So in the Midnight Greetings example shown above, it is a +6 weapon, so that "INT (+6)" will show the same no matter who is holding the item, nor what their INT modifier is. It simply means <INT MODIFIER> + 6.

The +2 Str damage you are looking it, is half of your Str modifier since you're holding a one handed weapon.
This is only true of a weapon in your offhand. Mainhand should be full str mod.

Now that you mention that, and I see what you are talking about, I don't entirely understand why it's showing only +2 instead of +5.. do you have precision, and is it active? That would be the only thing I can think of that would drop it like that..

Its a visual bug that is coming up for some reason. If this follows:
Mainhand: +5 rapier, +5 str, 1d6+10
Offhand: +3 rapier, +5 str(half for damage, rounded down to 2) 1d6+5
So the damage listed on your inventory is correct.

Like I said, you started with either a 12 str, or 10 str and +2 str tome. It's showing you dmg mod as your base str, even though your actual damage mod is base str + enhancements.

Oh... that explains the number at least though it'd make more sense if it showed the current STR modifier.

The bottom of the inventory is correct but the weapon is not.
Deifnately a bug.

Yeah, not a big deal though. The range of damage you deal in this game is far from a mystery, so its not like other games where DPS is calculated in some esoteric formula that would need Gol to explain to me. :D
