Folks,

Still trying to plan my build for epic content. Drow TWF str-based warchanter. I was considering putting 2 levelups into CON because I keep hearing Drow hp are too low.

If my hp will be 485 @ level 20 with rage spell, GFL greensteel, minos, toughness, barb past life, etc, is that enough? Should I take 2 points of CON and get 505 hp, or should I put it all into STR?

At level 18 my hp would be 453.

Thanks,

G

That's a good answer to a different question. I want to make a Drow. Thanks anyway.

the question is why "drow?"

Dont answer a question with a question.

the question is why "drow?"

I think the character is already 18?

Given that, I'd probably take the +2 str - a bit of extra damage is always nice, the +1 to hit will sometimes be useful..

With the hp, you'll rarely notice, but when you do it could be the difference between life and death :)

But just to humor you since we're obviously very bored tonight...

1) I like Drow.

2) Everyone else is playing dorf, human and tin can. I want to be different.

3) One day when bards get some spells I won't seem like such an idiot.

4) One day when they add Drow Scorpion prestige class I might have a cool character.

So back to the original question, is it viable? Not worth the pain? Do I really need to be sitting at 550 hp at level 20?

it then depends what con u started with. if 14 then you should be fine. 12, u might want to invest in tomes and prolly 1 level up if you are really afraid. if 10, reroll

as to warchanter, if you are already going on this line, i wouldnt really care too much with spell casting. dump your char and your should be fine. the only problem i see is the twf, if you have +2 tomes at disposal, it will help greatly

fair enough

It used to be the opposite - Drow armies!
3) One day when bards get some spells I won't seem like such an idiot.
I thought this was a str based twf toon, so really the race doesn't have much to do with casting (unless you mean by LRing). For a caster I'd take Human anyway.
4) One day when they add Drow Scorpion prestige class I might have a cool character.
:)

1. I dislike Drow

2. There is a reason people play those races...they are good.

3. You will seem silly by being a Drow Warchanter. Baisically if you want to be a casting Bard...go Spell Singer. Spell Singer Drow is ok. Warchanter Drow is sub-optimal.

4. What makes you think you can have "Drow Scorpion" on a Warchanter. Warchanter is a feat starved and AP Tight class/PRE. It may be hard to fit in "Drow Scorpion" pre-reqs.

To answer you original question. Yeah most likely it would be fine (Drow Warchanter). If HP matter a lot to you...craft Exceptional CON onto a ToD ring or onto a weapon since you are 2WF. Also HP is always good.

I am curious what your starting STR and CON was. That *MAY* help decide whether you should put level ups into STR or CON...though I would say always put level ups into STR or a Caster stat...or maybe certain PLD builds to qualify for DM 3 or 4.

Good luck

Long story that I was trying to avoid by asking a simple question:

Character is level 14 now. I want to TR him twice if there's a way for him to be playable in another life and a half. Otherwise I dont want to waste any time and plat on him. This life I can definitely splash him til he's viable at least.

Back to the original question: 485 hps is enough to melee with or not? What can I do with 453 hp at level 18?

Yeah 450 HP on a bard is pretty darn good.

Also the ability to UMD heal scrolls on yourself will help.

Seems you are ok splashing...so if you have 2 ROG for Evasion...450 is more than enough for *MOST* content.

Thanks. I want to start with a TR x2 build and these stats (only Drow can):

STR 16
DEX 14
CON 13
INT 10
WIS 8
CHA 18

Drow get +hit/damage with rapiers. Maybe not as cool as dwarven axes, but there are at least some fun named rapiers and shortswords out there (epic sting!) to have fun with. Go for it, Geezee -- just stick your level ups consistently. You don't need that last 20 HP as much as you'll want 2 strength.

I would try to start out with a 15 DEX to make GTWF easier to get. Unless you have a +3 DEX tome banked.

I got a very similar non trd drow str based bard, usualy at around 500 hp for raids can get higher with yugo pots. Went something like 16 Str 14 Dex 14 con 12 Charisma rest dumped all lvl ups into str, if i ever trd i wouldnt add any more points too charisma its completely unecessary, instead i would put those points into con. (also of course i had 15 dex to begin with lesser reincarnated after i got a +3 dex tome).

I have a WF 16bard/2ftr/2rog at base 507HP and evasion. I don't feel like 485 would really be that much different at the end of the day. Maybe a smidgen of a small percentage of scenarios like ToD elite, but otherwise outside of a few unusual circumstances it's fine.

Remember to pump up your concentration skill as high as possible so you can heal yourself or others under pressure and in combat. I've got a 60 concentration and when my DoD procs with DR20 it effectively becomes a 60+20=80 skill check. This means I can heal in Shavarath elite with no problem. This and 485Hp I wouldn't consider it an issue. Especially with buffs like displacement and stoneskin wands. With Rage spell, double Madstone, and Yugoloth potion I can reach about 640HP for short periods of time.

I'm late to the party but what I did was put 2 level ups in Con 3 in STR. with a +2 tome I am at 16 con with no items.

I went:
16 +3
16
12 +2
10
8
16

A better choice might have been:
16 +5
16
14
10
8
12
