View Full Version : Building ORC barb got questions

1) Would it be better to make a orc barb with 2 past last fighter or would it not be a waste vs just rolling a up a new character as barbs don't seem to be desperate for stats or +hit
2) How much difference are you looking at THF vs TWF for DPS?
3) Tuff vs stunning blow...

1.) +2 Att, +2 Combat DC's, +4 Build starting points... a TON of time spent. I think 1 Paladin, 1 Monk, or 1 Barbarian could be better past lives!
2.) THF is most likely where it's at w/ half-orc... they are supposed to get synergy w/ two handed weapons.... though there is always debate by the number crunchers which wins for barbarians.
3.) Stunning blow.... is AMAZING.... that and the difference between 600 and 700 hp is minimal.

Building ORC barb got questions
Huh. Don't know anything about the ORC race, but if you're talking HALF-ORC....
1) The attack bonus won't help you that much - you're already at +7 compared to a WF barb. The build points are nice, but probably not worth TRing for.
2) Go THF, especially if you can get an eSoS. I mean seriously, they get special THF animations!
3) Stunning Blow FTW.
Cheers,

1) The real benefit of taking two fighter past-lives is if you can get your stunning blow DC's to the mid-40's without a stunning weapon. That means you could still reliably stun monsters in epics and other high level quests without having to switch away from your main DPS weapons... :D
Sustainable Mid-40's DCs are difficult to get on a straight barb (you'll have to be really well geared) but it's a bit easier with a Archon v.2 build (or THF modified Blitz build).
The +2 to-hit would also benefit you against epic red named mobs or epic bosses... otherwise there is no real need for it.
2) THF - More synergy with a half-orc and let's face it... THF is just more fun :)
3) Stunning Blow is more useful long term although it makes me sad whenever I think about not having that extra 60 or 70 hp. LOL
NOTE: As far as past-life feats go you should really consider getting one Barb Past-life for the following reasons.
A. extra 10 hp - Yippee ;)
B. The active past-life feat gives you:
- An extra +4 Str and +4 Con on your normal rage as soon as you take the feat (aka lvl 3)
- An extra mini-rage for a stackable +4 Str and +4 Con (more of a novelty)
- Considerably longer rages (especially useful if you are not doing a 18+ barbarian levels build)

Wait, the Barbarian Past Life feat changes your Rage from giving you +12 STR to giving you +16 STR? o_O

While you are probably correct I have yet to hear a dev comment on this.
Personally I think they should leave it as is. An active past life feats should be fairly useful.

The reason I say its unintended is you can read the official description and its not there. With that said...probably wont fix for at least a year lol

The Devs have made a post abbout it. They intend to fix it. Who knows how long this will take. I personally like the effect. Makes TRing worth it.

While I agree with you fully...the other TR feats would need to become useful also.

Considering that it's pretty much the only active past life feat worth taking up a feat slot I think buffing the other past life feats would probably be a good idea.
