I have a friend who has a problem (Really its a friend - its not me. Really :D )

I convinced him to play DDO with me and he started a cleric on one of the premade paths (Siberys Warpriest). He is about to level up to level 5 and we want to get him off the premade path and onto something that will play a little better in the upper levels. We are going to reset his enhancements and respec a couple of feats.

We want a build that will be healing focused first. I've noticed that this becomes pretty important around level 10 and 11. My highest character is 11 (wizard) and I have only played a cleric to level 5, so I don't know much about them. But regardless I have tried to throw together a couple of builds.

So if you could let me know if there are any major flaws or minor tweeking that needs to be done in these builds that would be great.

The first build is healing focused with a fighter splash for a little ability to knock things on the head when they start nibbling on you.

Didnt look too hard in but here are some stuff - dont increase the str in the late levels instead of wisdom. Also U better focus only on 2 skills and not on all of them, believe me taking 5 levels of jump when u use a heavy armor doesnt help u jump high or absorb much damage, just use feather fall.
Also - start with 18 wisdom, thats the very best ability for the cleric, u can open with alittle str and con from the sides but always give the max focus on wisdom.

Incorrect.

There is no reason to wear heavy armour in the later levels, and STR-based Clerics are perfectly fine. If not going for offensive casting then all that is needed is 19 WIS in the end including items and tomes.

Actually I thought I had already answered this in the original question. I was trying to give him two options... both being primarily centered on healing. One leans a little to the battle cleric side while the other leans a little to the offensive caster side.

I was hoping someone could look at them at let me know if there are any major flaws or if these are builds he could use and have a toon that is fun to play.

1st build: Weapon Focus is useless; and you're lacking Power Attack.

2nd build: no glaring mistakes I can see, but some options include dropping Mental Toughness and adding either Empower, or Spell Pen depending on whether you like direct damage or instakill.

Assuming you aren't handcuffed by what he's already done with the character to L5

I'd lean to the second build based upon what you are saying (heal/cast type build wanted)....And push all enhancements and level ups to Wisdom (ie. leave Str and Con at 16 and 14 as the odd numbers don't help you anyway subject to gear considerations) This would get him to 30 WIS with +6item which is decent and will land most spells and provide a good SP pool.

You can still knock some heads around if you need to with divine power/favor will bump up your tohit and dmg a bit. Get decent weapons and he'll be able to puncture a few lungs. Not that he should need to with decent spell choice/usage and it appears a decent group to play with.

If he really wants to go Battle Cleric....levelups to STR - get Wis up to 19 for spell selection only and get PA and IC Slash
