View Full Version : Light Path Advice ?

Hello,

I am a new player at DDO, and I would like to play a Light Monk who can solo a lot and can be usefull for any groups/raids.

I read most posts about different builds, but I did not see updated templates about Light Monk.

Could you advise me which race I would choose between Human and Halfling.
Which 32 point build do you recommend ?

both human and haflign are good monks, fro a ligth path great at soloing, i feel haflign is better as they get mor dex fro higher AC a usefull tool fro light monk soloing, + the haflign guile/cunnign Ap's are VERY strong. Also haflings look cooler and the males have the best /dance in teh game.

I feel haflings make the best every monk, though humans are nto far enough behind for me to say they are aa remotly bad choice haflings are just better :)

Not sure where teh thred is located any mroe but eurytos posed soem GREAT monk info.

For +200-300% healing amp + little more hp: Human
For more dps: Halfling

While Eurotys (sp?) has a great thread with a ton of useful information, one thing I would like to point out just for info sake. He says in his list that Dwarves have no useful bonuses other than more hps (which they do get a ton of). In actuality they have a few things that help, although only one of them is helpful with offense, the others being defensive.
They get (when you include enhancements) +3to save vs ALL spells, +2 vs poison, +4 vs balance. It currently does not come into play too much at later levels, but they do get +4 AC vs giants, and +1 atk vs orcs/goblins. They also have a Tactics enhancement line (essentially the same as the WF enhancment) that increases the DC's on their offensive specials (up to +3, but no one gets higher than +2, too expensive).

No, im not screaming 'Go dwarf, its the only way'. I am however pointing out that they are a great and very viable monk, and can be amazingly hard to kill, especially when you factor in the racial bonuses on top of the monks already rediculous saves and imp evasion later on. Have mine up to 17 so far and love em (STR build, of course).

Whichever race you pick, welcome to the wonderful world of monk-fu. They are a flat out blast, and light path in particular is very easy to solo with for very little maintenance (not much need for potions and / or mercs).
