Where Are the Tomes?

I have had five toons complete Reaver raid 20/40/60 completions in the last six weeks. NOT ONE TOME HAS BEEN ON THE END REWARD LISTS!!! I can't even get decent guild renown on the list - twice I had a choice of Heroic Deeds (which I took) and the other three times I picked something off the list and vendored it.

When a toon completes 40 or 60 Reaver raids, I doubt that they need another set of Ventilated Bracers. I have been playing since beta - all of my toons are either TR'd or going to be TR'd. All I want or need out of that raid are +3 tomes. After 40 or 60 runs I should be awarded at least one tome. Or if you are not going to give me a tome, at least give me the choice of a Legendary Victory instead of vendor trash.

Call me an elitist, call me whatever I don't care. This is the opinion of a long time VIP player. I thought this game was not supposed to be a grind?

The original verson of DDO was "the MMO without the grind" as advertised. However with the new version of DDOEU the mentality has changed unofficially to "the MMO with the MOST grind!"

I often have made the same mistake. If i wasnt so close to my permaban I would tell Turbine how i really feel about it. Instead {insert hate filled rant here}

And i feel with you. My Warchanter is waiting for a +3 or +4 Dex Tome. So far 6 20(or40th)th Completions in various Raids. all i got was ONE +3 tome for Cha. Dont get me started about Epics...

You are slightly more likely to get skunked on your 20th completions than to get lucky.

If you want +3 tomes, the best spots in the game (not counting Shroud 20th rewards, as there's always something better to take there) to loot them are:

1) Abbot elite - 1.25%
2) DQ2 Epic - 1.1% chance to loot a +3 or better tome (0.6% +3 account-bound, 0.25% +3 character-bound, 0.25% +4)
3) VoD Hard or Elite, Hound Elite, Abbot hard - 1%
4) Hound hard, Reaver elite, Abbot normal - 0.8%
5) ToD elite with Suulomades (post update 7) - 0.75% (0.39% Horoth chest, 0.36% Suulo, these tomes are always +4)

For me it seems like tome drops have gotten much more frequent. A year or two back when I was playing more often, I played for months and months and never saw a single tome for myself.

I've been back for about two weeks and have looted three +1 tomes already. Maybe it's a huge coincidence, I dunno, but to me at least it seems like tome drops have increased massively in frequency.

The drop rates for Reaver are:

To get raid loot at all: 16%/17%/20%
For that raid loot item to be a +3 tome: 4% all difficulties
Total chance: 0.64%/0.68%/0.8%.
Interestingly, ALL other items - from the Madstone Boots you can never find to the Treason you can never give away - have exactly double this drop rate.


All of the raids scale. Titan scales the least, Abbot the most (and ToD almost as much).

+1 tomes are pretty much useless now, I just give them away. What they are talking about is +2-4 tomes found in lvl 17 and up quests and lvl 10 and up raids

+2 Tomes and Manuals will no longer drop as Raid loot in the Stormreaver raid. Any +2 tomes found in the warded chest will have been generated as normal treasure. The drop rate for +3 tomes has been increased to compensate for this change to the raid treasure table.

I, for one, have had the worst luck pulling tomes this year. Since Jan, I've pulled 3 +2 tomes(all dex) playing end-game content, with 2 TR's thrown in. I have won a roll for a +4 cha, and a +3 str, but outside of that...zilcho.

Before update 6, I had 3 complete sets in the bank...down to scraps.

Yeah, and just my personal experience, I started a new toon 4 months ago, completed almost every quest up to lvl 10s on Elite, leveled to 15(banking 16) and have YET to see a single tome yet.

Tho other times I seem to have pretty good luck. I scored Muckbane on my first try, etc. So, its truly in the roll of the die sometimes.

The datamined info is from after the VONs went epic, as it includes Epic Von6.

The 20th rewards always use the Elite tables. For all raids except Hound and VoD, this is the same as the non-Elite tables. Hound and VoD have two items each, (the two shields from HoX and the two bracers from VoD) that are very rare drops on Normal and very common on Elite; plus they don't drop tomes on Normal.

Ironically, players would probably prefer the Hard loot table from VoD to be used for 20ths.

Well for comparison's sake:

Hard VoD loot table
20% chance to get an item. If you get one, roll 1d100 to see which:
1-15 - Tharne's Goggles
16-30 - Bard's Cloak
31-45 - Defender plate
46-60 - Gloves of the Glacier
61-75 - Enlightened Vestaments
76-85 - Glacier bracers
86-95 - Tharne's Bracers
96-100 - +3 tome

Elite loot table
25% chance to get an item, roll 1d100
1-12 - Goggles
13-24 - Cloak
25-36 - Plate
37-48 - Gloves
49-60 - Vestaments
61-78 - Glacier bracers

So the Hard loot table has 15%, 5% and 10% chances respectively for the 'big three' items (Goggles, +3 tomes and Glacial Bracers), while Elite has 12%, 4% and 18%. (The others are easy to win /rolls on, except for Tharne's Bracers if you mostly run Normal as it almost never drops there).
