I've returned.


I know, I know, I know... I blew out of here six days ago. But, I've done some thinking in those six days. I've also been talking to a lot of folks in those six days. And, for better or worse, I'm coming back.


I still think the new policy stinks. And I still think the way they failed to notify us about it stinks even worse. Won't mince words there - I think it was a colossal misstep on the part of those whose job it is to be Community Specialists. Any sort of autoban is nasty business - and not even telling us they'd be bringing it to the table is even nastier.


But, is that alone a reason to stop posting altogether?
I thought hard and had to come up with the answer of No. No it is not.

I'm sorry I left, and I apologize that I let my temper get the best of me here. I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve - and sometimes that turns around and bites me in the butt. This would be one of those times.

See, I really do enjoy talking to everyone here. Even if I don't agree with them, or if they don't agree with me - it's a conversation worth having a lot of the time. Even if I'm just posting something in an attempt to make people laugh... it's worth it.


So, I'll be around again. Like it or not. :D

I thought your previous analysis and decision was mistaken, but I wasn't about to dump on you in your goodbye thread when it was clear you were feeling bad about the whole thing (and right in being angry in the first place).

You were, in effect, banning yourself. Better to just keep going and if you get banned, well, it is not any worse. Welcome back. The forums are a funnier and more interesting place with you, and it always takes some guts admitting you were mistaken.

Welcome Back Mem, nice to have a voice of reason return to the forum ...er well, reasonable... sometimes... maybe... kind of ... occasionally. Umm, well at least humorous if not always reasonable :D

Until the next infraction at least. Then it will no longer be Mem's decision if he wants to be active in the forum or not anymore.

Which brings me to a funny (and more importantly true) story from yesterday.


As I was working, I sent one of my subordinates off to go run an errand for me. We have known each other for years, and as I sent him off I said "get going lacky".

Well, a lady who happened to be in the shop at the time starts in on me over this. "Don't you know that calling someone your lacky is offensive and demeaning to them, ect" and I was on the recieving end of a good five minute lecture on treating others with respect. While both I and my subordinate found this to be somewhat amusing afterwords as in no way disrespect was meant or taken by my comment to him, she was quite seriously offended by what I had said.

You just never honestly know what you might do innocently that will truely offend some people.
