Not really, but with the addition of adamantine weapons to the DDO store, there could theoretically be a reason to buy one. In a golem filled quest on a lowbie, and forgot to get them a metalline/addy weapon...grab one from the store instead of exitting to check the broker or AH.
I don't think I would ever do it, but there is at least a small step in the direction of offering useful items at the DDO store.
Quoted from the announcement:
+1 Adamantine Quarterstaff
Does 2 to 7 points of bludgeoning damage and can bypass the special defenses of most golems, not including clay golems. NOTE: Requires the Simple Weapon Proficiency: Quarterstaff feat. This weapon requires both hands to wield in battle.
BTW, it does bypass clay Golems DR....same text for all the addy Weapons, including the heavy mace.
