Leaked by a developer at turbine, update 7 is to include a new monster type, the Medusa.
Whether this is to be an end boss, raid boss, or just a new type is unknown.

So what do we know about the Medusa from the Eberron settings?

...or the petrifying gaze of the medusa...
The deadly power of a medusa can certainly inspire terror, and thinking of this creature as a simple monster is easy. But medusas are not savage predators, roaming the wastes in search of prey. The medusas of Cazhaak Draal are, on average, more intelligent than most humans, and they have a proud city-state in the midst of Droaam. The power of the medusas is a potent weapon in the arsenal of Droaam

Medusa:
Petrifying Gaze (flesh to stone)
Inspire Terror (Fear)

Today medusa architects direct the ongoing construction of Droaam's capital. Medusas hold many positions of power, both in Droaam and in the monstrous communities that have since spread across Khorvaire; in Sharn, the medusa Kasslak maintains order in the dangerous district of Malleon's Gate, while a medusa named Harash is the second-in-command of Sharn's Daask cell. The deadly power of a medusa commands respect, but in a nation of ogres, minotaurs, and harpies, the keen intellect of the medusa is often more useful than its petrifying gaze.

So they cause fear, can turn you to stone (or use their kiss to turn you back), and are really smart.

Will the Medusa be a formidable foe, or a turncoat ally?

I miss the old school DnD medusa..

Save vs Petrification or Turn to Stone
Save vs Poison, when getting bit by her snake hair, or Die!

Coming across one unprepared was brutal.

I'm assuming the DnD one will be a joke. Player immunity of poison, lack of insta-death even when they are not. weakened flesh to stone effects. She'll just be another 'melee the players while in a fire wall' mob.

Q: Awesome Guild Airships, new quests, half-orcs on the horizon, and possible druids in the future… what else do you have coming down the line that you can tell us about?

A: We are really looking forward to Updates 7 and 8 later this year, where we have not only half-orcs coming but also a cool new series of adventures featuring a really awesome new monster: the medusa!

We’re also busy working on a big overhaul of our UI, notably including some auction search improvements and a facelift of almost all UI panels. Our engine guys are also getting us their latest changes, so players with new shiny game machines will enjoy some new DX11 graphics effects.

My guess is that it will be an end boss, since they are calling it Medusa. If it was just a random monster it should be called by it's more generic name, gorgon. Medusa is a proper name; gorgon the generic name. That is my theory anyhow. :)

Not quite. They are a race.

The proper noun Medusa you're thinking of is the old Greek myth.

Its awesome to know the DnD world is expanding into DDO, but honestly.... I WANT MORE!

Theres thousand of monster Options on DnD.

And IMO, the Medusa is more of a boss. A real permanent Medusa´s FTS would add challenge and flavor to the quest it will be inserted.

My guess is that the medusa will move around like the current marilith, so it will take a lot of firewalls to catch her.

Gorgons in D&D are iron cattle with a cloudkill breath weapon.
