View Full Version : Disappearing ingreds -- has this ever happened to anyone?

I've had bad luck pulling large scales. It actually became a running joke in my guild on argo -- "not another effinf chain!!!" I pulled large chains and large shrapnel like nobody's business, but had some really long stretches without scales. I told myself no biggie, that when I finally had a run of scales, I would have all the other ingredients to match, and would be able to craft easily.

So I finally pulled a scale to allow me to finish an item. And I had NO large chains. I easily had 8-9 of them in my bag. None. I checked, double-checked, and triple-checked. All my inventory slots, and bag slots. Nothing. Double-digit small and medium chains, but zero large chains.

I tried to think of possible explanations, but
- I have only one bag, and it's not full, so spill-over isn't a problem.
- I don't auction larges (I am in gather mode), or trade them away, so I can't see how I could have accidentally transferred them to someone else
- I checked my shared bank slot, and for good measure, the inventory, bank, and bags of my 2 other shroud toons, but nothing.

I did do a LR recently, but I don't see how that would be a problem.

I submitted a ticked, but no response. To be honest, I wasn't really expecting one -- I understand that they typically can't verify what I claim to have lost. But seriously, I've run 48 shrouds on this toon, and only crafted a couple of items. What are the odds that I have stacks of everything but zero large chains? I'd question my sanity if it weren't for the fact that my pulling so many friggin chains in the first place had become an inside joke in our guild.

If anyone has experienced anything like this, I'd be curious. I am baffled right now, and more than a little frustrated at having to keep grinding something I am sick and tired of grinding.

Posts about missing larges and whole green bags pop up now and then.
Unfortunately you may get a canned response on the ticket.

Best defense so far is to don't leave green banks sitting in the shared bank.
Whenever using the shared bank make sure it is not laggy or unresponsive, try moving something else first.

Some say that at a certain hour every day there's a 'reset' or short maintenance that slows down the bank, mailbox and auctions.
It may take several minutes to clear off.

But that being said to be aware of it and not make the customer aware that at set times on set servers there is issues is bad business practice and disrespectful to their customers.

I've never had a stack within a bag disappear, but I have lost a +5 Eternal Wand disappear via a shared bank to inventory transfer. At the time I was able to make another via Ice Games, but I had no other option if it was another time and something of greater importance.

I had some GH relics go missing out of my backpack the other day. I'd spent a good couple of hours in GH gathering these and had to log quickly to attend to RL. I logged back on a day later to bank them (I keep them in my character bank) and only had holes in my pack where they'd been. I don't keep them in a pouch so I can find them easily. It was the first time I'd ever had something like happen. And hopefully the last.

huh oh uh yep. definitely happened here. I'm totally missing like 10 large scales, 2 tierIII shards, and a dozen large power cells. Someone should get on that.... :D

heheheh but yeah, I've had sentinels sigils and things like that disappear.

Any stackable item equipped or in a backpack space has the potential to duffer damage and have some number of them destroyed. I find it happens most commonly to spell components scrolls potions and ammunition.

yeah, missing ingredient reports are usually from bank lag, the ingredients do not take damage so they don't break.

big things that can break tipically include major pots of sp, you can break a whole stack from repeated deaths in places like enter the kobold, etc.
