I have an level 2 Elven ranger 28 pt build and I am planning on taking along the tempest path. But here is where I need advice. I have considered 2 different build possibilities an am wondering which to do.
1) 18 Ranger/2 Fighter Take all 3 tempest enhancement and this will give me two extra feats and I can take fighter toughness I and fighter strength I enhancements.
2) 14 Ranger/6 Fighter taking tempest II and Kensei I.
I was wondering what some of the more veteran players think.
Thanks for any advice in advance.

To be honest elves make the third worst tempest charecters in the game. (In my opinoin) Thats not to say they are unplayable but elves get a boost to dexterity the feat you need to take for tempest (dodge) requires 14 dexterity. This can bereached on a human with only 6 points. An elf can go up to 16 dexterity using only 6 points and they dont really mesh well with tempest. if you really want to do it here is a rough guide.
Stats
Str:16
Dex14
Con14
Int:10
Wis:10
Cha:10
If you have 32 Points dump cha and put the points into Str or Con.
Remember the main advantage of this over human is that you get the weapon racials. owever dwarf gets better racials. IE: throwing axe, war axe and a few other gimpy weapons.

Though I'm not exactly a "veteran", I love Tempest Rangers, and if I were rolling a 28pt Elf again, I would probably do #1 exactly for the reasons you state. I've got a pure Elf dex-based Tempest Ranger (level 16) who's a blast to play, but if I roll another one it'll be 18/2 STR based just to see what the difference would be like. I've got a lowbie Dwarf Ranger (5/1 atm) who's eventually going to be 18/2 who's very, very tough and very, very effective so far at-level (and holds his own quite well when he's below quest level)

Imho I think 18 ranger 2 monk might be better than 18 ranger 2 fighter on an elf?
or you could always do the 18/1m/1rog or I think its the 12 ranger 7 rogue 1 monk now for dps?
