dps twf pure paladin kotc human kop or elf scimitar?

is the threat range of scimitar plus the elf damage and hit enhancements worth giving up the multiplier of kop?

I actually have a level 19 KoTC elf schimmy user and the short answer would be probably not. However I do not feel my toon is gimp by any stretch of the imagination. I would rather have the multiplier on the smites, now having said that I havent played the human Kopesh version.

Well, the pros for human are the extra feat (used for khopesh), extra skill pts, higher CON & HPs, Adaptability lets you have +1 STR + 1 CHA, and healing amp. Pros for elves are +2 DEX, scimitar enhs, only race who can go Undying Court, and...uhhh...they look prettier? Scimitars are usually a lot cheaper than khopeshes on the AH, so that's a point in their favor if your resources are limited, although once you have Holy Sword it may not matter anymore.

My hunch is human w/khopesh will out-DPS elf w/scimitar overall and that the human bonuses are more useful in the long run. That said, if you prefer elves, I think you can still make a pretty good paladin.

I think humans do more dps with kopeshes and access to kopesh for epic chaos blades is awesome. If thats the route you want to go. But I agree with ungs point. Personally I love my human.

don't quote me on this because I recently reformated and lost my link to the dps calcs but afair the dps calcs for human khopesh user vs elf scimi user or drow rapier user (assuming both have the full racial enhancement line leaves the elfs and drow slightly (and I do mean slightly) behind in dps output. one dps calc was putting elfs/drows ahead based on the higher chance to proc a crit smite but as I said, you are better off searching through the dps calc threads to find the relevant posts :)


that said, you do get a +2 to hit assuming the +1 str from human does not give you a bracket (in which case you are at +1 to hit compared to a human) with your racial weapons. in epics, especially while twf is used this actually makes a difference.

cons and pros for both, neither gimps your toon, more of a personal preference imho.

The odds are the +1 human will give you a bracket. 16 str+5 lvl+1 human. But no going scimitar will not gimp your dps. You dont need to be the absolute top dps to enjoy playing your toon.

True, you could go with rapiers instead - is there any reason to prefer them? [Apart from sharing them with other chars, I suppose.] Or you could go for elf w/khopesh, but which of these feats do you drop to get it: Toughness, TWF, ITWF, GTWF, Imp Crit, PA, Extend? I guess Extend is the most expendable one, but still...

Good point: when I put together this build (http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=3228684&postcount=15), I discovered I didn't have enough enh pts for Drow Melee Attack II on top of all the other DPS enhs I wanted. And I sacrificed pretty much everything else to go for max DPS (at least I think it's max, given the build).

Its true, but 6 ap for +2 to hit is 6 ap most paladin builds lack. Its doable, but its pretty difficult.

I've been planning out a TR'ed TWF Human Khopesh Pali--and the number of enhancement points to pass around is extremely tight.

If effectively matching Khopesh DPS requires you to pour points into Elf Scimitar enhancements, I'd strongly advise against it because Pali's are so give and take you'll end up with lacking DPS, hp, enhancements, attack, etc etc etc compared to a human khopesh user.
