Congratulations to those Mortals who completed the pure virgin maiden exploration of The Red Fens (hard difficulty).
Bigto 10 Fighter
Kazzkett 10 Cleric
Zourtha 9 Bard
Raag 9 Rogue
Brragi 8 Fighter
Tymbellina 7/2 Bard/Fighter R.I.P.
Condolences for Tymbellina who couldn't recover in Fathom the Depths.
We progressed through The Last Stand and The Claw of Vulkor with no deaths. After completing Fathom the Depths, our group decided to further explore the place. That exploration resulted in Tymbellina's final breath taken in a desperation move to be free of the Depths. The five remaining adventurers continued through The Sahuagin Stronghold. Thanks Mortals, for the outstanding expedition.
Permadeath, the most fun you can have playing DDO.

Did you fight the optional demon in the last quest?

I don't like to spoil the quest for others that want to experience it for themselves, but I'll answer this anyway. This seems to be a new design element that we're not familiar with. Easier XP but with some truely optional loot. In some cases we have faced those challenges (like The Carnival). In the pre quest (Fathom the Depths) we had enough left in the tank and pushed past the completion. It could have easily been a party wipe. We got lucky not to lose more than Tym. In the case of this finale, prior to completion our group spent four hours scouring the place for every optional and enemy. For some in the group, it was 2 AM. We were spent. Relieved to have the completion it was a quick decision to finish out and I supported it.
Honestly, the quests are not that difficult, so we'll certainly take our chances on the very optional elements soon enough. We need our danger fix.

Grats! And condolences to the lost soul.
I'm keeping from spoiling the quests for myself (want to run them PD first), but I'd heard enough hints that there was an optional boss.

"required" optionals are not new: have you ever done gianthold tor? or litany of the dead?

I don't think so. What level are those quests? In the last three years, I've had one non-PD character. The level cap was 14 then and I zerged him up to 1750 to unlock 32 pount builds. Big boring waste of six weeks gaming time. The desert was a big deal back then.
