I had a very recent AH experience that leads me to wonder
if there's a bug. I bid on a trinket that had no buyout price
and about a half day left prior to expiration. I was outbid
a few times over the next few hours as I cast in new bids.
My last bid was the high bid and there was 8 hours left.

I confirmed this 8 hour time by exiting the DDO client and
logging in again. I also performed a new search for the
item in the Auctions tab. I know about the stale Durations
in the Bids tab due to a failure to update.

A couple of hours later. I started the DDO client and logged
in to check on the auction. Not surprisingly, I was outbid
again, as indicated by an email returing my bid. Here's the
oddity. When I checked on the item, it now had a buyout
price and the duration on the auction was reset to 3 days.

I know this was the same item because it was still in my
Bids tab but now with a Buyout price, a much higher
Current Price, and a new 3 day Duration instead of what
should have been about 5 hours. There were no other
items of this type in my Bids tab.

It's as if the original poster of the item adjusted the auction
parameters well into the progression of said auction. Almost
like it was cancelled and then reposted but without breaking
the links to the item in the Bids tab of those who formerly
bid on the item.

Some bidders will just buy an item flat out with an alt if the auction is not going the way they like it. They can then transfer it back to the original character and restart an auction. That is the only trick I know but I am unsure whether that would effect the entry in the bids tab though.

Yeah, I'm guessing that is what's called "shilling"?
Having a friend or alt buy the auctioned item.
But, In any case, wouldn't they have to let the
auction's duration expire naturally?

The only way that I know of to stop an auction
from running the full duration is to either perform
a buyout or have the poster cancel. There was
no buyout price. Also, the poster can only cancel
unconditionaly within the first hour or anytime
with the provision that no bids have been made.

Several bids had been made and several hours
had transpired. There should have been about
5 hours left on the duration when I noticed the
anomaly. I'm convinced that either the game
mechanics are not as advertised or there's a bug.
