Here's a thread from Lama about the new feats.

There are 2 new epic feats now that you're going to want on a melee, in addition to Cleave and Great Cleave (which as well as being prereqs now increase DPS also).

So HElf with Ftr Dilly (or Human) is looking strong.

Epic toughness is a boon for dwarves and WF however, you may be right that humans get the most benefit with the extra feat slot.

Just saw Overwhelming Crit needs Weapon Focus too, feats are going to be extremely stretched to fit that in -

9 feats at 25

1. PA
2. Imp Crit
3. Cleave
4. Great Cleave
5. Weapon Focus
6. Overwhelming Crit
7. Toughness
8. Empower
9. Maximise
10. Quicken

Weapon Prof from WF, Human bonus feat or HElf Ftr dilly.

So is the theory now that the metamagics are so terrible they should just be dropped or not? I remember seeing that on the beta boards, but don't know where/how it went. Certainly make getting some melee focused feats in.

Sora kell being broken for healing is a big sad panda though.

What about HElf 18FvS/2Mnk w/Pally dilly?

11 feats -

1. PA
2. Imp Crit
3. Cleave
4. Great Cleave
5. Weapon Focus
6. Overwhelming Crit
7. Toughness
8. Empower
9. Maximise
10. Quicken
11. Weapon Prof - Greatwsord

Pros - should be significantly more melee DPS than FvS20 (Cleave, Great Cleave, Momentum Swing, Overwhelming Critical, etc).

- Great synergy with Evasion and Pally dilly.

Cons - loss of 10DR and the CLW capstone hurts.

- Pally dilly instead of Ftr dilly means one less feat avaialble (Weapon Prof) so no Empower Healing.

- Str is 1 point lower than Ftr 2 or Ftr Dilly, but no need to get Ftr's Haste Boost Lite as Legendary Dreadnaught has full blown Haste Boost available.

Terrible? No.

So good that dropping them isn't viable? No.

I will definitely keep Maximize Spell but might drop Empower Healing. Again, all up in the air at the moment.

Self healing early on seems to be a terrible weakness (for me). Curious splashing Arti at lvl 1 would be worthwhile.

Hey Sirgog, this might be of interest.

I LR'd my WF FvS (not exactly SS build but same concept) to wisdom based. 28 unbuffed str and 32 unbuffed wis now.

I wanted to do something as healer friend is borked, and TRing away from WF will be a hard choice considering the gear I have (red docent mainly). With healers friend 3, 30%+20% amp I am still under 100% heal amp...it takes 10% from ship to get positive heal amp. This is clearly wrong and extremely irritating.

Anyway, after the LR I took him into EH Devil Assault solo and I could land implosions, destruct elementals and some of the tieflings with an energy drain. I didn't have Power Attack or Imp Critical so melee was a bit gimp. I swapped back in PA. The scaling obviously helped but it was quite easy. Basically almost anything thatself heals has an easy time in EH content.

I'd like to build for offensive casting in EE but I just don't have the time or patience or desire for multiple TR's. I might just go back to melee and make him extremely durable, and keep his smiting line maxed.

I apologize for necroing this thread, but I am curious if this build is still viable for soloing and potentially EN-EE content?

Thanks ahead of time.

Viable yes, soloing EN-EH yes, and even EE if you have the gear/skills.

But it's a very oudated build, the DR is useless in EE, +% threat generation too since there is no real need to have a dedicated tank anymore in most raids.

I'm sure you can find better u29-30 melee FVS build in the class forum.

Just to clarify this point: if you really want DR in epics now, you'll use a Shadow Guardian docent (http://ddowiki.com/page/Thunder-Forged#Flawless_version_upgrade), which doesn't stack with the DR from LoB capstone+Adamantine Body.

A more modern take on this build IMO would be Bladeforged FvS 17 / pal 3: you give up lvl 9 spells and capstone, but pal 3 splash adds a lot of survivability benefits (+25 PRR/MRR, up to +14 to saves, +20% HPs) while keeping Leap of Faith.

I like this idea. By chance would someone be able to come up with a quick run down of what a BF 17 FvS/ 3 Pal trying to accomplish a similar endgame of the soul survivor build?

Core concept would be highly survivable melee tank with strong (raid) healing; melee DPS would be sub-par by modern DDO standards, unfortunately. :( But the goal here isn't a max-melee-DPS build; it's someone who can be front-n-center with the other melees, tossing out heals and pinch-hitting when there's not a "real" tank around.

Here's a quick-n-dirty sample build built for eSOS.

Pal 3 splash means +25 PRR/MRR, +14 to saves (11 from Div Grace, 3 from Resilient Defense), and +20% HPs. Not 100% sold on my investment in AoV + Fire spellpower since it means giving up T5 Warpriest (which is weaksauce TBH); but the idea is you use Consecration+Energy Burst both for extra AoE DPS and to charge up Empyrean Magic+Scourge+Just Reward. Heals come from Sacred Ground+FvS spells (Heal+MCCW); Recon SLA so you don't need to invest in heal amp. Exalted Cleave+Strike Down for AoE melee atks. eSOS crit profile is 14-18/x3 19-20/x4 w/Celestial Champion + IC + Overwhelming Crit.
