*Edited 8/13/2010 to add ITHF, take imp crit sooner, and add maul as an option.

This is meant to be a fun, pretty high DPS/Utility type self sufficient 32pt build using a greataxe. *Optional use of Maul in red lettering.

WF: Immunities, DR8/adamantine (damage reduction 8 vrs everything but adamantine, AC is useless so use guards), higher con, PA enhancements, WF great weapon aptitude.

Fighter: Kensei II (powersurge [+8 str, 8 clicks for 1 minute each], weapon feats and enhancements for +5 att +7 damage, +2 reflex save to magical effects, 2 additional action boosts per rest), fighter haste boost IV (+30% stacking attack speed increase, 8 clicks for 20secs each), +3 str enhancements, extra feats, higher hps, ftr toughnesses.

Rogue: 4d6+9 sneak attack damage, evasion, UMD, traps, skill points.

Barbarian: run speed, barb sprint boost I, barb PA I, couple extra hps.

STR: 28 +6 item +8 powersurge +6 titan grips = 48 self buffed
CON: 22 +6 item = 28 for 436hp + 20 ML helm +45 shroud hp item + 30 GFL = 531hp
with other gear and buffs hps should go over 600 np.

Friendly suggestions, thoughts, constructive criticism, corrections (I'm sure I made some mistakes so help me out!) are most welcome. Thanks.

Slow down with the builds man.

If you are going to be posting this many builds I would suggest a: Dethtrips Build thread or something and post em all there.

Such a waste of feats!

Why get THF feat if you aren't going to continue the line?

No Improved Crit?

It's decent.

I'm not so sure about the DR thing being very useful when all is said and done. Its not enough to really make a big difference at high level unless you are somehow stacking it (say as a shield tank) and you are giving up some damage feats to get it. It will be nice for glancing blows but as you aren't AC you wont take many of those past low levels. Its not bad to have, but its hard to see it being worth the investment your putting in it. Perhaps if you were a "proc" build where you are trying to do damage when you are hit, that might make sense.

You won't get much milage from sneak attack unless you are with an intim tank or the like as you have no way to lessen hate and it does have good DPS profile overall. You are even investing AP in it and it just won't pay off much. Also as a THF you are getting less mialage from it than a TWF.

Take stunning blow as a feat and shift some enhancement points to it, and go from great axe to Maul as weapon of choice. (only blunt weapons have stunning bonus effects on them) The Maul is statistically identical to the great axe and works well on skeletons to boot. Only zombies which are less common have slashing bypass DR. A number of critters have blunt bypass DR.

The stun lets you get advantage from sneak attack as it causes auto crit and auto crit takes sneak attack damage. It will make for a strogner character and all it costs is a feat and 5-18 ap depending on how hard core you get (really you could spend no AP but I'd reccomend at least 5 for two ranks of the fighter enhancement and one of the WF enhancement for tactics) you already get +2 on stun from Kensei.

I'd move Improved Crit a bit earlier instead of one of the DR feats and also take Improved Two Handed Fighting at 12. GTHF is kind of marginal now so you can justify skipping that one I think.

I think those two changes would take this from "decent" to "good"

No AC so ya, I was thinking DR and guards

If I am hitting stunned or held enemies, they take the sneak attack damage. Also, one can concentrate on hitting enemies that are not attacking them (like attack the ones attacking the clerics) and get the sneak attack damage.

Good advice on the maul. I have played a few thf and I keep a maul for such times. I will have to look at the stats on that but one could easily just swap the appropriate feats and enhancements for bludgeoning. I would rather have a stunning weapon then stunning blow which takes forever to recharge. I just feel its not effective enough to spend the feat and enhancement points on.

I will update the build with ithf and look at taking imp crit earlier. I was pretty much taking imp DR where there was not a class feat that had to be taken. Which causes you to have to wait at times but I will rework it. Thanks for your advice.
