View Full Version : Too Much Junk

I planned to set out to explore Restless Isles because there's some good loot to be had there. Figured I'd run to the bank and pick up some maces because the Puddings in the first cavern are a real nuisance.

I hadn't sold from when I last logged off. I didn't clear out that much inventory. At the bank and I'm fairly well upgraded, I've got little room and my shared account is stuffed also. Okay so what doesn't my rogue need? Being more than fairly self-sufficient--not much.

Then it occurs to me. My paper contract for my Paladin hireling takes up as much space as potion, a wand, a necklace, and +2 Plate Mail. I don't know why this didn't occur to me before! Why do my wands--a stick--take up as much space as Plate Mail armor??

I am a 'ol Diablo fan and really liked how they did inventory in that game. Mind you DEVs I really don't want my Plate Armor suddenly taking up eight boxes!! Or my helm four boxes. What I would like is a way to contain all the small junk that you pick up.

A potion box, similar to a quiver would be nice. Let me stack "x" number of potions "y" number of times in a box that maybe takes up two spaces. Let's say: 20 potions of blindness removal, remove curse, cure disease, and water breathing each.

Create some belts that can hold some wands. Maybe four wands? Taking up two boxes.

A sash would be nice (2 boxes) holding thieves tools, shurikens, or daggers.

How about a binder for holding scrolls?

I'm just hoping for a bit more space to store stuff.

So you want people to use 95% of their inventory for charms and their belt for potions and not carry 1 single other thing because it would gimp them out of several level 70+ charms? Because that is how inventory works in Diablo...

I like where you are going.
A quiver of sorts for other items, that would be nice.
something to hold a couple different batches of thieves tools or a bandoleer to hold knives or other small instruments , maybe some cargo pants to hold more brick-a-brack.

Heck even if they gave you the option for making special "holders" with the collapsed portable holes or other another special item they decide to make.

I had to really think back to Diablo to understand what you were talking about with charms and then I remembered...

I'm questioning why plate mail armor takes up as much space as a potion. Yeah we have bags for collecting stuff, but except for the ingredient bag, I don't have much use for the other too. Gems really don't seem to be all that valuable...at least the ones I'm finding.

And I like to see some "organizers" I guess to store some of the stuff like I mentioned above. I feel it would be fair to use two...squares to hold 4 types of (20) count potions.

When you're running from quest to quest, you're picking up Vendor trash, scarabs, necklaces, end rewards...it's just a lot of junk.

Game balance.
Back in NWN1 you could eventually fill up your inventory with bags of holding for 0 effective encumbrance.

In DDO inventory space is - I guess by dev design - a commodity you have to unlock or pay for.
I suppose it was meant to prevent some hoarding.

We could use some extra containers - maybe scroll and wand pouches - though.
