Party wipe, with completion!

Which quest is most likely to end as both a completion and wipe for at level characters? I suggest Rest for the Restless or Stealthy Repossession when the secret service method is used. Such quests will probably include an easy to kill boss with tough henchmen, or perhaps unusual quest design like Wiz King where people stay in after completing.

I've had a Partycrashers end with me dead, yet the quest completed. I got phantasmally killed, yet Cyan was able to clear off the last couple of remaining things.

The most typical place though that I can see this occurring is a party wipe on one of the dragons in Gianthold Tor.

maybe the von dragon raid? Only been there twice, first time was a complete wipe in the matter of 1 or 2 seconds once we got to the dragon. 2nd time was with different people and nobody died. I guess if the timing was just right it could happen. :P

After you finish, a ton of skeletons nearly immune to non-good weapons spawn. If you don't Good weapons (which are unneeded up to that point), or perhaps an arcane with plenty of mana left, you're doomed.

Von6 gets my nod, but not on total party wipe.

Many times ive seen 8 people and the dragon all die at the same time.

Then TOr, and mirred in kobald...for obvios reasons stated above.

Weapons Shipment should be mentioned, because although it's pretty hard for the party to die in there, it's a dungeon where if you do wipe it's still fairly likely to proceed to completion.

I think you can recall when the Titan appears and it'll complete for you without any player inside to watch what happens.

Both technically "complete" before the tricky boss fights happen. Sor'jek is the hardest part of SoS, but the quest is complete before you get to him. Similarly with Tor. The optional dragons are much harder than what's required for completion.

Yes, but if the party wipes while fighting the dragon, and fail to kill it, they have now wiped after completing the Gianthold Tor quest. The quest is complete when the giant skellie is killed. The dragons are merely optional objectives.

I got one with a party wipe THEN the completion, with everyone dead.

Church and the Cult elite, me and my buddy two manning it on our monks. We brought him to the fire traps, particularly the small room with the flame jet across the doorway. He still took us out, and since he had no one to chase anymore, he quit moving all over the place - right in front of the trap, which proceeded to torch him until completion.

If you complete tor there is a shrine. If you kill the dragon optional there is a shrine. This thread was about quests where you can kill the boss and still wipe because none is left alive and no shrine you can reach. In tor if you kill the boss or any of the 3 dragons you get the shrine. Every quest can be wiped on by failing to kill the whatever you are trying to kill.

Most quests complete when the boss is killed. Tor and SoS are unusual in that the quests are complete before the boss even appears.

Seems we're using different definitions of completion. I believe the OP is unambiguous in saying "a completion", as in, credit in the favor log, an end reward, raid counter increment, etc. The strictly mechanical definition the game uses. You're taking it to mean a party completing what they set out to do, whether it be a quest, or optional, or whatever.

I did one of these, Xy'zzy ran through a barrier and croaked.

That's impossible now, since the barrier goes away when the caster of it does.

Had this happen on part 5 of a TR run. We were running it on Elite around level 5 or 6 and things had gone ok to that point. We zone in to the 2nd half of part 2 and someone starts early, aggroing the whole mess. None of us had fire resist on yet and the flame strikes were killing us. My Rogue was one of the last alive and still had most of his hit points so I decided to make a run for it. By the time I reached Lhor Tragu everyone else was dead. I started talking to him, then got taken out by a worg. But I was able to make the last conversation choice after dying and we got completion.

Any tincan run with me in it. I'm good at destroying a pillar and making it land on the party, just as they're ganging up to kill it. I can even take myself along in the fall. I am uber.
