I'm still new to DDO and D&D in general. My husband has been playing for years and he got me playing the online game and I'm getting into it. I still can't understand half the stuff that is going on but I get the main understanding of it.
Anyways, my question is can you only get the Feather Fall Ring from the STK quest? I have done it 3 times and haven't got it yet and he plays it the first time and gets it. But that is usually how that roles.
I am still a newbie to this so don't bash on me too much.

the ring of feathers comes from STK. there are other Featherfall items in the game. If you are on the sarlona server let me know, I have a few spares. the boots from Waterworks I think also have no min. level, no sure been so long since I pulled a set from there.

As far as I know, it only shows up as a possible loot from the STK quest line but it doesn't come up very often.
Later in the game, you can find boots that offer the same ability, but they're ML 5 at best and (obviously) take up a different equipment slot.

There are other items that can have a constant feather fall effect (random), however the ring is according to my understanding the lowest level one you can get (as in no minimum level.)

Welcome!
Yes, The 3rd part of stk has a small chance to drop a featherfall ring.
However there are plenty of other featherfall items in the game
By far the easiest to get is the Feather Fall Cloak (End reward from redemption on Korthos island)... though it isn't permanent feather fall - you have to activate it.

The Ring of Feathers is only found in the STK quest. It is bound to account and does not have a minimum level (ML). Other common items to find permanent FF on are boots and rings. I personally have one ring that is ML 7.

Water Works quest line rarely drops a no ML Feather Fall boots (or maybe ML 2), buts it's even more rare than the ring from STK.

The FF ring is a rare drop, you can look on the AH and see just how rare by the price there. I sold the last one I pulled for 1.5k plat. (or 1,500,000 gold)
Some people are just luckier than others, I have yet to pull a teleporting mask even after 100 plus runs on 5 toons.

The Ring of Feathers does not bind.
I have a FF ring I got as an end reward out of a Sands quest, but it is min level 9, I think.
I think the earliest you can get FF boots is 5th, I think.

The Ring of Feathers is definitely not bound.

Ah, had never seen or heard of those. :)

There are feather fall boots that drop occassionally as end rewards from Waterworks. They are bound to account and no minimum level. The ring of feathers from STK is unbound, no minimum level.
The drop rate seems to be fairly low on both.

There's a BTA feather fall ring you can get from the Sharn Syndicate final quest that has no ML.

My apologies, you are correct. They are not bound at all.

Thanks everyone.
I guess I'll just keep running and maybe I'll get. My husband has a tendency to fall all the time so I think he needs it more than me. I have the cloak, I just hate that I have to activate it.

I've also pulled FF items (boots) from the Bookbinder Rescue quest in the Sharn chain.

Level 3 would be the earliest you could get a non-bound feather fall item but that would have to be race restricted and would be exceedingly rare.
Level 5 is the earliest feather fall item without restrictions but those tend to be very expensive. Level 7 is really the earliest you'll see easy to get ff items and the difference in availability is striking - people will probably just had you a min level 7 item if they find out you need one. I know I have at least 3 or 4 I'm not using at the moment.

You also have a chance of getting a BtA feather fall ring from the Catacombs quest chain. Most (if not all) of the quest chains have a chance at dropping BtA items that are lower level than usual.

There's a ton of Feather Fall stuff at auction, too.
I know there's a wand and a potion.
=)
If you really want feather fall.
Honestly, I would rather get something that gave me more HP so if I do fall, I'm okay. That can also be used in other situations like battle and whatnot. Feather Fall anything won't help you in combat...generally.
Just a suggestion.

Just like +HP stuff, featherfall items are good in the right situation. And an absolute necessity in others (finding that one Explorer point in Searing Heights; doing the ladder climb-and-jump bit in Prove Your Worth in Three-Barrel Cove, etc.) All the health bonuses in the world won't help there... and clickies aren't much use in Prove Your Worth unless you have several and/or get it on your first try.
Sure, it won't help in battle, but it's a good way to take certain shortcuts. I'd rather carry around one FF item than a wand or potions or clickies (and that includes wands, potions, and clickies of healing to regain the HP lost from going splat...)
I got a BtA featherfall ring as an end reward from Stand Your Ground in Sharn Syndicate. Very quick and easy quest to do repetitively (less than 5 minutes, prolly). If you have a spare character slot and the Account Bank, just create something to go through it on Casual until you ransack the reward every week or so.

HA! A woman playing DDO? There's no girls on the internet. Everyone knows that's a myth!
Seriously though, welcome. We're all the better for you being around.
And the only place I know of for a FF ring is STK, but the boots are bloody everywhere. Check the AH.
If you're on Sarlona I have a couple extra pairs I could send you if you want.

Feather falling items in general are very common, most of the ones you find will be Minimum Level (ML) 7 or 9. I personally use a 7 or 9 til I can use my lvl 15 one just so I can pass the old one to an alt that hasn't gotten that high yet. Lowest non Race Restricted (RR) feather falling ring is lvl 5, and the ring of feathers is a unique ring with ML 1. It is possible to get feather falling boots that are ML4 from water works.
On a related note, non-RR underwater action items start at lvl 7 for necklaces, but there is a chance (very very rare) for you to loot a ML 5 non-RR Bound to Account (BTA) underwater action item from the delera chain (which is p2p). There is also a very low chance to loot a trinket called a bottle of air which grants underwater action.
I listed some of the abbreviations for you in case those didn't make any sense ^^

Most of the low-level quest chains have a small chance of dropping no-ML UWA items that are bound to account.
The standard location for the Bottle of Air is the P2P quest "Hiding in Plain Sight" - however, there is also a chance to pull it from non-P2P locations, such as the named Trog in the Water Works explorer area.

The Ring of Feathers is good only for the NML I have a ton I loot and only keep 1 per toon of FF items if at all in use. If you see them in AH dont buy them priced over much for something easy to get. The Ring of Featers is expensive for the NML and thats it. the rest are trash.
