First in my quest to make my rogue as self-sufficient & buffing as possible, I've been looking for a true seeing item. I've assumed goggles are my best bet. So far I haven't found any TS goggles or any TS clickies. I have, on occasion, seen 'see invisibility' goggles.

I asked in the advice channel if see invisibility and True Seeing where the same thing--most in regards to bypassing blur and displacement of enemies. I was told "no."

I'm not really seeing the point of the See Invis items. With the exception of Ogre Magi and some assassin like orcs, I haven't really seen this as a 'need' yet as the Ogre Magi and assassin Orcs will pop right back up to attack. So what, if anything are these items/goggles good for?

Aside from crafting are there any True seeing clickies out there?

No clickies.

You can get it on raid loot goggles.(tharnes)

You can also gete it on scrolls which as a rogue you should have no trouble UMDing.

Yes, there's Staff of the Seer, 8th lvl min, 1 click for 9 mins. But its very rare.

Also, there's some kind of set involving Mantle of the WorldShaper, from Threnal. But I dont know enough about it to give you stats. Someone else....

Clickies are the Stave of the Seer from Bring me the Head of Ghola Fan!

Permanent TS is available when you equip two Tharne's items- usually Tharnes Goggles and Bracers from the VoD raid, although you can craft Tharnes on DT armor.

Yeah, see invisibility is one of those spells that becomes a bit more practical about the time you have a better option available anyway (True Sight). The only truly 'invisible' mobs (the Magi actually teleport, though they don't actually leave.) are the aptly named invisible stalkers that start showing up around Necro 4 and the Vale. And even then they're in very small numbers, and it's fairly easy to just swing your weapon in a circle till you hit it.

EDIT: You can also get DM's Vision by wearing the Voice of the Master (Delara's) and the Mantle of the Worldshaper (Threnal), it's an unlisted 'set' bonus that acts as True Sight.

Other methods of getting true sight is through having both the voice of the master and mantle of the worldshaper equipped. Also, true sight is a tempest property on dt armor.

Mantle + Voice of the Master from Delera's, equips to the trinket slot. Perma TS when both are equipped.

It's actually DM vision, not sure if theres a difference, but it works like TS as far as I can tell.

Far as I know, see invis is completely useless. It doesn't actually work on anything. There's tons of quests where I know that monsters are present (like going to Hound in the Subterrane, when you get to the shrine room after the big rune door chamber where there are a couple of beholders present but invis)...you NEVER see them with any buff until they start attacking. Naturally, monsters with see invis can faultlessly see players who are invis or sneaking.

True Sight is for getting around blur/displacement, and finding hidden doors. It's equally useless for seeing invisible monsters.

True Sight can be gotten via:
Stave Of The Seer (uber-rare drop from Ghola Fan, 1/rest click of it)
Tharne's Goggles (VoD raid)
(Epic) Sandstorm Goggles (DQ Raid)
Epic Staff Of Inner Sight (Chains of Flame)
Tempest Rune on Dragontouched Armor
Wear both the Voice Of The Master, and the Mantle Of The Worldshaper at the same time
Having a caster cast it on you
UMDing a scroll

Actually this information is incorrect. The reason see invis doesnt show you all the mobs that are "invisable" is because they are using hide and not invis. A high enough spot or listen will show their location. Spot makes them appear as shadowy figures and listen will show a red "becon" at their location.

As for "monsters with see invis can faultlessly see players who are invis or sneaking" what is happening is they are locating you with their listen. Just because you are invisable or sneaking does mean you are moving quietly. Sneak is a function of 2 skills (hide and move silent) and if one is too low sneaking will not work.

It works, but there are very few invisible things. Ogre Magi use it (then cast another spell on you to break themselves out). There's also Invisible Stalkers.

Can't remember what else, but pop into the "Tomb of the Shadow King" if you want to test it out real fast :)

Of the Tharnes items, only the Goggles have TS; furthermore you do not need to be wearing a Tharnes set to get TS from Tharnes Goggles, only the Goggles themselves. The 2 item Tharnes set grants 20% less hate and Ghost Touch.

No, they see me. I know the difference between a monster doing its search animation because it hears footsteps, and a monster whupping on my ass because it saw me.

Voice of the Master from Delera's and the Mantle from Threnal giver True Seeing as a set.

As far as i've been playing, i've never seen such an animation. And what would they be searching for?... Search doesn't help you locate hidden/invisible mobs, only spot/listen and they are passive... I've seen them only come to the place they noticed "me" or outright attacking that place, even if i moved from there...

So, i think Jendrak was right, and that 'See Invisibility' works only for invisible mobs, and not sneaking/hiding mobs.

EDIT:well, i noticed the monsters' search animation some time ago, i thought it would be something like the players' search animation, but it was more subtle and while moving... but that doesn't change that i think i'm right when i say: 'See Invisibility' works only for invisible mobs, and not sneaking/hiding mobs.
