Can I Run the High Res Version in Boot Camp?

Hey guys,

I finally broke down and installed Windows 7 Home Premium onto my brand new MacBook via Boot Camp. So, after I installed some internet security, the first thing I did was mosey on over to ddo.com to download the client :).

I'm wondering, will my MacBook be able to run the high-res DDO client well? That'd be wonderful. It's brand new, I bought it less than a month ago. It's the white MacBook, 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo, 2 gigs of RAM, nVidia 320M video card.

Does anyone know? If all else fails, I can just waste the night downloading and trying it out, then uninstalling it and grabbing the standard-res client, I guess.

No you can't

Because your on a Macbook, even the pro's can't.
I have a Macbook Pro 2010 w/ the dual core 2.9ghz processor and I have to run the game at Medium settings to get above 30 FPS. I do run on DirectX 10 but even on 9 it's not much better.

I wouldn't bother with the high res client it's wasted space for the performance the mac laptops give.

If you had a Mac Pro or a 2010 iMac, then sure.

I tried it anyway since I already had the 4+gig file downloaded.

It seems to run fine. The "detect optimal settings" option put the graphics on Very High, which gave me about 30 FPS most of the time. I turned it down to High and get around 45-60 FPS most of the time. I'm not sure if I really notice a big difference from the standard res client, but since this one seems to run fine, yay to that.

Now, I just need a worthwhile mouse with programmable buttons and a headset. For some reason, the Mac mic goes totally insane when I speak into it within DDO.

Yeah but your running it in the low res mode so ya coulda saved yourself 4 gig
Isn't the high res client just for ultra high / very high settings?

Default install for ddo on my macbook I bought back in January was ultra high. I even turned the resolution up to 1280x800 which is the max for my display.
