Rise of the Intimitanks

I've seen an ever increasing demand for initmitanks, especially in certain Raids. Is this because of the changes to bastardswords/daxes or is has people discovered something about tanking in general that others haven't seen yet?

Mind you I'm a newer player myself =D

Many things are easy enough without an Intimitank in game.
It is sometimes even easier with an Intimitank.

I would say it's more of an influx of players from archetype games. The changes to bastard swords and dwarven axes aren't even on the radar at improving S&B tanking.

They've always had their uses... it's just that their uses are mainly needed only in high end raids, and having more than one tank is rarely useful.

I agree that its mostly new players who don't know you don't need an intimitank in this game.

Intimitanks aren't usually eve better, unless they are extremely good. An average member of another class can generally easy fit any of an intimitank's roles.

I was more referring to average build than average player. An average player playing an intimitank is probably a horrible intimitank. But as it is, its mostly vets with the ability to gear out a toon to the nines who play intimitanks.

For instance, Horoth, Sulo etc. Beat down.
Orthons in VoD: A ranger with manyshot can kite. In fact, it works quite well.

I started a timytank some time ago when and he sat at lv8 for sometime. Then the guild wanted to run VOD and TOD and found that having such a Intim/WF/tank just made the quest cost less in Mana pots and other such needed items by controling the fight. Yes it can be done just as ez with out but What can I say, hard to teach an old guild new tricks. :D
