So I'm starting a Warforged Wizard, following the necromancer build listed here: http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=2882881&postcount=91

So far all is well (using 32 point build) but I feel like i'm not getting the best for my spell slection. I'm lvl 3 and just unlocked my lvl 2 spell list, have access to a guild scroll vendor, and some money for scribing materials.

I guess what I'm asking is,

at lvl 3 - 5 what are my GO too spells, for DPS, CC etc. I mean what should I NEVER have off my bar.

So far i'm using: Cold Ray, Charm Person, Snowball Flury, Repair Moderate Damage, Mage armor.

I feel like I end up simply Charming Person and throwing out maximized Snow Flurrys, and thats about it. Cold ray seems to land 1 out of every 10.

My stats and skills match the listed template, so no need to post them here.
Please advise.

2nd Level Spells

DPS:
Scorching Ray-Excellent spell. I still use this alot on my lvl 20 caster. I like it because it works well with the Fire enhancements that you will take to bolster your firewall spell.

Crowd Control:
Web-One of those spells that really works well in all levels of play. It is a persistant spell that gets things to stand still for a bit.

Other spells:
Resist energy is a must. Moreso after you get to 7th level (20 resists).

Glitterdust-In large battles it can be useful as it will blind your targets giving them a 50% miss chance against you and others in your party. It has a slow cast time but can still be useful in the right situation.

3rd Level Spells:
There are lots of good spells in this level!

DPS:
Fireball-Don't really need to elaborate

Acid Blast-Smaller area of effect than fireball but if you are Acid/Electricity speced it can be just as useful.

Frost Lance-The cold version of scorching ray, works well in conjunction with it, especially if you are Fire/Cold speced.

Chain Missile-I mention this because you are warforged. If you are Repair/Force speced this can lay down some pretty good damage. I use this on my lvl 20 who is fully forced speced and I have gotten crits on the first missile over 350 with all secondaries ~46.

Other Spells:
Haste-nearly a must for any caster

Displacement-caster armor, gives any physical attack a 50% miss chance

Halt Undead-against unthinking undead like you find in the catacombs and delera's tomb it will make them immobile and allow you to beat them back to dust.

As a wizard you get the chance to use any spell in the game. Find the ones that you like to use and work for your play style!
