View Full Version : Servers down? Zerg Lammania......Asheron's Call Tradition.

The PVP Zerg. For all those that fear or dismiss pvp play...this is for you. No worries about losing or winning and you can be effective at level 1 against a level 20 (or at least you can do damage to them and it is impossible for them to save against it). In fact...the whole point IS to be a level 1.

This used to be an old tradition on Asheron's Call Darktide Server (A full experience loss full loot rights world PVP server ...drool). Whenever the other servers were down for maintenence, everybody would make a new char on the PVP world server and invade it. Typically you have the level 6-7 Newbie Killers trying to camp the spawn portal, but on The PVP Zerg day, so many new chars were coming out of the portal they could not kill them all, and you would see several higher levels going down under a horde of level 1-5 ants who crawled over them and put them down.

I propose (for a bit of fun) that we give the tradition a shot here in DND on Lammania.

The concept is as follows: Make a Level 1 char that can hit straight off the bat (PVP Zerg template provided below) and just head over to wayward lobster and drop in the pit......20 to 50 level 1 chars at a time. Ten to twelve level 1 chars stinging a level 20 can and does make them have to run as the little Zerg Army Ants keep stinging them. That level 18 Bully Archer suddenly finds the Math getting reversed. The key is to have a lot of us.
You will die often, but so? Just hop up, restore your life, and hop right back into the ring....with this build you need no time to regain mana or worry about your level 1 pitiful hp total.

Zerg Build

Level 1 Hafling-Cleric.
Take Luck of Heroes to max saving throws.
Max Dexterity and Wisdom...nothing else matters.
Either quickly play through Korthos starting storyline or (preferably) skip it.
Absolutely Essential: TAKE SPARK OF LIGHT WAND AS YOUR STARTER WEAPON. It is your only weapon that will be effective....and can peel off 300 hitpoints in 60 seconds of any other char at level 3 anyway.

Setup up the Wand in your number one spot, put up your pitiful shield, and head over to Harbor and the Wayward Lobster and hop in. Find a target and hit number 1 until something or somebody bleeds. The wand will recharge every day in the accelerated mode in pvp areas.

If you want to be better prepared:

Run Cannith Crystal Quest 5 times and take braces of assistence reward 5 times to you can clickie your health back each time you rez.. All you need to earn some money is run it once on casual, sell the first one, buy a hireling to help you run it for the next hour and you will have all the money your level 1 will need.

Run Cannith Crystal Quest for enough money to buy a Lesser (Fire, Acid Lightening, ect) Robe so when hit you do a little damage back.

Pick up any level 1 clickies you want (Shield, Mage Armor, Magic Missile) all can add to the fun.

If you want to try another level 1 type, just remember that Spark Light Wand needs either a Cleric or Favored Soul to activate each time.

In Lobster, just keep hopping down and firing to your hearts content (I am aware of PVP's broken targetting in pvp due to DND's lack of pvp expertise, but the point is to have as much fun as you can regardless) Level 1 Gunfights with wands are fun, and again, a bunch of level 1's crawling over a level 20 is a thing of beauty.....

The point is to jump in and have fun in PVP without worrying about winning or losing or DND's Borked PVP Math. Make the Bullies feel it, as they can Comet many, but Mana Runs out and they cannot get all the cockroaches in there. Their intimidation factor in regards to new players is out the window. In addition, this can be used on any server to kill a bit of time with no worries about "status".

So when the servers are down....head over to Lammania and do a little PVP Zerging....you might just learn a thing or two as well....

I expect that some responses will be along the lines of "Yea but my level 20 will own...blah blah blah" as they nay say your little level 1s Don't worry, I guarantee you will drive them nuts before they drive you nuts. And who cares if you die, you are level 1 and you just hop right back in while they waste a 45 mana spell to kill you...? The people that are negative about the approach are more worried about their artificial status than they are about having fun. And this is not a skill based pvp game, it is loot and EQ based....so, game is rigged unnaturally in the first place.../shrug.

Flesh to stone. now your cockroaches are dead.

So? I eat breakfast while you do that....and do that 50 times on all of em and make a flesh to stone garden for all I care.... None of us are intimidated by it. And also, petition is in the works (and it will be good to be seen by the DM's on Lammania in anycase) for logout in PVP arena's so your higher level's last line of annoyance factor will be gone.....Sticks and Stones Love....

Fair point, How about just fireballing his own feet killing anything that comes close?

I know you have this picture in your head of the preditors standing on top of the inca temple..... or Jet Li In "the One" but its not actually like that. yes I know you covered this is your first post, i assume because you knew it would be brought up as the truth, but level 1 chars wont stand long against level 20. even a swarm of them.

Just as a point but I dont actually PvP. I think its completely pointless in this game but to each their own.

Also, your 360hp's from a spark of life wand over 60 seconds is optimistic at best, i think.

EDIT....

"Run Cannith Crystal Quest for enough money to buy a Lesser (Fire, Acid Lightening, ect) Robe so when hit you do a little damage back."

Wont do anything because any self respecting capped char will have enough ele protect/ resist to block this damage ;)

"Just as a point but I dont actually PvP. I think its completely pointless in this game but to each their own."_

You kinda make your own point there. Besides this has been done by a Guild now for over two months and it does work....sorry...if you don't even play pvp not sure why you are commenting then as experience should be the foundation of your opinions /shrug.

Deals 1d3 light damage +1 for each caster level. But without actually trying it you will never know. Asumptions Assumptions...tsk tsk.

:) I never said I havnt used the wand of eternal spark :) now whos making assuptions

so. 1d3+1 is 2-4 right, as you're all going to be level 1.

Lets assume you roll 3's on every roll. and fire once per second for a min. lets even give you 60 charges to make it easier to work out. Thats 180 hp. half of what you suggest.

I dont have children either. Does that mean Im not within my right to tell the children playing football against my wall to go elsewhere.

Just because I dont PvP doesnt mean I have never been near a PvP pit or spoken to people about it or had first hand experiance. Therefore my opinion is still valid until Im arguing a point that needs direct experiance to comment on.

I dont mind if you wana PvP, all luck to ya. Dont be misleading thought telling people their levels 1's can kill a capped char.

I will conceed that in the most extream of circumstances it is a slight possibility. A very poor capped char against a group of very very good level 1's, working to a game plan and the capped char getting a string of 1's but realistically.... it aint gonna happen.

It has happened...shame you were not there to see it but it will happen again and again. And Wayward Lobster is not a place to have "a game plan". Level 1's in capture the flag would not work (unless everyone is level 1 and that IS fun), Lobster is where this type of Zerg Rush happens. All the level 1's need to do is to keep rezzing and hopping right back in on the same target or multiple targets. That is the only "plan", no Master Coordination needed, and they do not need to be "very very good", all they have to know how to do is Target and hit 1.

You will need to actually play some pvp and try out things for yourself to really have a convincing point of view...I hate to break it to you, but that is just how the world works (even the concept of Experience Points in a game like this reflect that).

The goal is to have fun in PVP and sorry, I am not intimidated in any way by anyone in DND pvp. DND is not a skill based pvp game and the False Pride exhibited based upon Loot, Gear, and just standing there with Comet Fall casts by high levels does not do anything but amuse me. Hopping Arcane Archers crack me up as well. Lobster caters to these types (if people were on it they would popularize the Phoenix Pit instead of Lobster as line of sight is broken for these Builds). Get on a level 1 and jump in and stop catering to a level 20 that wants you to think them a demi-god. Sorry, it just makes me laugh. Go have fun instead of nay-saying. Actually TRY IT Yourself. :) But you can keep being negative if you like.....heard the negative arguments before Ad Nauseum; I am an accomplished pragmatic optimist myself. Zerg On!

correct my spelling if you like. If this were anything more important then a forum i might give a *** :)

I wont keep up the argument as I see what your saying now.... you have obviously been bested too many times and so you now want to organise an army of ants to do the work for you.

If thats fun for you then go knock your socks off.

"been bested"...sigh I think you are missing the point entirely. The premise is in the OP.
