I made a bard to be a haggle bot but after a short while I deleted her because just standing in the back doing nothing was no fun so I made a new bard that will do less haggle but can fight and wow this class is really fun I can do the magic stuff I like doing and swing a sword around Normally I find melee very dull but with a bard I'm enjoying it.
if I have one complaint its that low to mid level pugs don't seem to know what to do with me I have been declined from some groups because I am either not a fighter, cleric or a mage.
A question that has been bugging me is why don't bards get Jump as a spell it seems ilogical to me that they don't bards are all about movement and being a jack of all trades.

Keep your haggle maxed, pick up an axe, and go solo stuff.
I agree with the jump spell....bards are great buffers...and it would just make sense

lol, the groups that declined you did you a favor. You didn't have to play with people who were completely clueless about what a bard can bring to the group!

There is something which can be said about bards in general:
Bard are pretty versatile, that is, even too versatile. Although the have the potential to heal, CC, buff, and melee, typically they can't excel at all the whole time.
Thus, you have to focus and it is rather hard for a bard to decide which aspects to stress with your build and which are not so important to you.
If you want good melee abilites, you should get at least good Str and Con.
If you go for CC, get good Cha.
If you want good buffing, don't forget extend.
If you want good healing, put on Devotion items and +SP items. (These might be a bad choice when CCing or meleeing)
You won't be able to do everything at the same time, though some of the aspects, e.g. Melee & buffing work pretty well together.
I can only speculate why you are not admitted in some pugs. Playing a rogue as a main, I can say that having one bard in my party is always beneficial.
In a game where most players clearly focus on specialization and min maxing their character to do one thing really well, bards are the jack of all trades class. Toss a few levels of fighter or rogue into the mix and you can even do more for the group.

I've been leveling up a Warchanter THF bard/barb/ftr and it's been great fun! I like my songs and I like swinging my big axe and I like my self-healing. My only previous character has been a wizard, and this guy is much more self-sufficient. I've been soloing a lot, but I'm also trying to better learn how to use him in parties (e.g., timing of songs) and to take advantage of all the action boosts, etc. One drawback I've seen is that because bards can do so many different things, sometimes other people assume that you should be able to do something that you really aren't that great at (e.g., my CHA isn't really great for things like CC, runes etc.).

I love having bards in my groups - if you're on Orien and I happen to have a PUG going, I can promise you won't be declined (of course, I wouldn't decline ANYONE unless they were an absolute jerk in a previous party ;) )

yeah i have been declined from parties too, one reason was that 'bards are not a viable class', and this was from someone who assured me he had 7 lvl 20s.

Jack of all trades does not mean they get all the good things of other class types. They get something and itll be good but never an expert or master like the class it is intended for mastery of. Jump isnt a bard spell like so many other spells available to casters. Bards arent movement based, they are minstrels and singers and dancers.
Thats nice that a suggestion for a jump spell has been mentioned but a bard has no business playing the caster that can heal and cast jump and buff the party with his music. Not having jump empowers the other caster class and keeps bard as what it is, master of none.

This guy did you a favor as apparently his thought process is not "viable".

It's what a bard does when he looses his instrument, usually because a party member or mob is annoyed by his or her singing.
