At level 20, what does it take to make trip and sunder effective? I have enough action points to take Figher Strategy Trip I, Fighter Strategy Sunder I, and Dwarven Tactics II. Thanks for the feedback.
p.s. My alternative would be to take Dwarven Spell Defense III and a couple of random 1pt enhancements.

I have 32-34 DC on each of them. Trip works well enough in Amrath and lower to be worth trying every 15 seconds.... however in epic monsters have 3 foot wide legs... and they will never trip.
I also use Sunder, however in battle I often miss the graphic, so I don't know how often it works. (lower to-hit character that run w/ me might know how often my sunder goes off :P 0

34 will trip cats, dogs, humanoids, and bearded devils in amrath. Orthons are wobbles, however, and apparently take a lot more DC to trip.

Sunder works reasonably often in epics without putting anything special into it, and I'd imagine it could work pretty reliably if you did. It's generally not worth it though for the minor benefit it gives - you'd probably be better off trying to stun it instead. I can't recall ever seeing anything epic fail against Trip.

Sunder works very well at low levels IF you get improved sunder (switch out later)...at mid to high levels destruction weapons appear and you can just use them for a guarantee instead of just a 'chance' to sunder.
Trip works okay, but improved trip adds that +4 and they do stay down much longer...It works enough to use it a lot even without a lot of trip enhancements or special weapons.
At low levels I find improved trip (took it at first level) to absolutely rock. Never took improved sunder but regular sunder does hit now and then. Problem is, if you are having trouble hitting them and need sunder, it is really hard to land it as your sunder chance may just be a 'miss' instead.
Trip all the way...sunder..meh. Stunning blow is pretty cool but you definitely need a + item for the stun. End game requires all the extras.

Basically enemy AC isn't high enough in this game for Sunder to be worth thinking about improving (although you may as well click the icon when you're attacking anyhow)
Note that Sunder has the catch-22: If the enemy has enough AC so that the Sunder debuff would be helpful, then your Sunder attempt is likely to miss its attack roll too.
