If you have a halfling girl like I do, you may have noticed a change in the way they run... Personaly it annoys the hell out of me and I refuse to run my little mechanic anymore because of it. Yes, this may be stupid to some, but most of the people that think this is stupid and think that it should be left alone probably don't run halfling girl toons in the first place. In my opinion the way they ran origanaly before our last update was fine. It was easy to immagine that that was the way they ran and that was that. I have never run a human before for the reason that they run like sissies and many of my peers run them just because its funny to watch them run like Paris Hilton all day. For me, running a halfling that runs like a living construct does not seem amusing unlike human men there for, many people im sure along with myself will want halfling girls changed back to their origanal form.
If you're in agreement with me, I would like to put an end to the "robot run" that halfling females have because, that is truely the way only warforged along with other living constructs should run. Humans at least run like fleshy beings if not like humans and im sure that halflings run like fleshy beings if not like halflings along with other beings of bones, skin, organs and muscle.

Halflings simply evolved. They now walk upright, instead of being the missing link between man and ape.

OP: Your post is a matter of opinion.
As in any case where it is a matter of opinion, others may not agree.
I for one think the changed animation is a vast improvement.

I am going with this sentiment. I always felt their running gait was very very wrong. Halflings are simply humans scaled down when it comes to musculoskeletal structure. Have you seen your kids run the way halflings used to? Did you run like that when you were 9? No? Well, why would halflings unless they all have premature arthritis and bad backs?

That's what I though.
My friend thought they finally removed the stick from their tail.
Some people hate the new animation, some people prefer the new animation. I hated the old animation personally.
It's bad enough they have the elongated skull, atleast they don't run like the missing link any more.

Yay then we can truly have 2 races humans and short humans The halfling was unique and alien now it just feels like a short human to me :(

they don't have to look exactly like humans, the current model just goes overboard with the elongation.
something like this pic would be perfect

Give me back the halfling run like it used to be!
Halflings had a style of their own - partly thanks to the 'dinorider' run.
If you think the new style is an improvement : just run backwards with your halfling & be amazed at how lame it looks (could the DDO dev at least have made the effort to make em look backwards as they do?! There IS a limit to dev lazyness you know!).
If you refrained from making a halfling before cause of the way they used to run (as I heard more then one player say) then you don't have a clue about what makes a char like that fun - stick to Warforged... O.o

I dont know about all of you but one thing is for sure, if their run doesnt get changed back it should at least be changed so that they run in a way that makes them seem fleshy instead of like a living construct am I right?

The elongated head could use a little tweeking I suppose but not by much... If you look at an actual D&D players manual they have elongated heads just not as elongated as in the game. My opinon of it is that its the way I can emagine a real halfling and for smart little people they have to have somewhere to put a good sized brain.

This was an UN-NEEDED change.
The new run is terrible and uninspired. The old run was unique and had character
With so many things that could be fixed in DDO, why, oh WHY did you change something that wasn't broken.
Just give me the option to toggle between the 2 animations (ex. /walk1, /walk2), that's all I ask.

actually i'm fairly certain the image I posted is from a WotC illustration... And yeah you can see it is definitely not human shaped, but its not exactly a football sized tumor either :D

For what it's worth, a friend of mine plays a female halfling and was simply overjoyed when Turbine changed the run to the way it works now. She too thought the old animation looked like a running ape.
I think the new animation looks fine, a lot better than my character's run anyway. /envy

The original Monster Manual picture didn't show any such elongation and instead actually showed them as more portly than thin but otherwise to scale with an adult human shrunk down to the size of a child.
There's no reason to suppose that they'd have melon-heads or even strange elongation of any kind. It's a fantasy game and there should be no nod to pseudo-scientific nonsense that someone with a head that size can't possibly be as intelligent as a full-size human. Given all the human child prodigies and all the idiot adults running loose, that size-IQ idea should not be on anyone's mind.

I'm not a fan of the new animation. I think it looks like something hastily done. But gods is it better than the hunchback of Notre Dame run that it replaced.

I would still like to see the old animations brought back, the new ones are just strange and disturbing to observe. The female halfling now moves her legs like a strutting lipizzaner, while swinging her arms and also pivoting at the hips. If anyone moved in a similar fashion in real life, they would spend as much time laying on the ground as walking.
I am not a fan of the new animations at all, or I guess I should say technically animation, as they didnt even bother to create a seperate animation for running in reverse. The halfling just happily struts backwards with the same animation as forwards, without apperently needing anymore to look to see where she is going.
Definately and literally a half-assed change, as they only did half a job and poorly done at that. I honestly wish they would work on things that actually NEED to be fixed, and have been that way for a long time, not play at minor cosmetic changes that no-one asked for, and was certainly not needed.
Kit.

Ok, we've heard this one enough times, and I'm calling bull.
If an ogre was waving a club in your face, you'd be more interested in watching where that club was headed than whether or not you're about to back off a cliff... especially when you've got a featherfall item. :D

I really don't think they needed to spend time changing the run style of a character vs. some of the more pressing bugs/issues, and asking them to change it back is just as counter-productive.

The old female halfling running animation was fun, quirky and unique. The new one is bland and pointless. What if Turbine had used that animator to do a new weapon animation (spears and polearms!) instead of changing a perfectly fine running animation?
. Halflings are simply humans scaled down when it comes to musculoskeletal structure. Have you seen your kids run the way halflings used to? Did you run like that when you were 9? No? Well, why would halflings unless they all have premature arthritis and bad backs?
No no. Humans are scaled up halflings, made by the true master race for boring manual labour and reaching the top shelves (where the cookie jars are always placed by some cruel, uncaring god).

Before U5 came out, I was lamenting the change, because I thought the running animation was hilarious.
But honestly, I had forgotten about it until this post. I guess I don't spend much time looking at my character models. I'm usually more interested in what's going on around me.

look if every race both man and woman look back when they run backwords then halfling women should be no different... they half-assed it.... you have to agree that they run like robots instead of flesh and bones?

this whole game, nigh.... any and every game ever created is a base for emagination... when your watching your toon fight, play the luet, shoot an airow or just run.... you emagine you are them doing what ever they are doing being who they are. There in lyes the problem people are having with this new run... immagining a halfing girl running like the turmenater is just obserd... so change is needed... wheather there running style be put back or changed to something less half-assed and more flesh'nbone styled.
