Was curious what this meant? I've begun to see it in certain dungeons (specifcally Tempest Spine) and was curious what it exactly meant.

You get less loot in them because you have looted them so often. I think it is around 11 loots of the same chest in 1 week before you get ransacked.

So lets say you run tempest spine on Sunday and loot the end chest. You do it 5 times again on monday, 2 tuesday, 3 wednesday, 1 thursday, and then on friday you run it again. You will be ransacked and get limited loot from that chest. You will be ransacked until sunday, when you first looted the chest.

It's a mechanic made to keep people from farming a quest too often for the loot. If you ignore it, the quality of the loot in the chest will begin to degrade.

Avoid opening that chest for a while (I believe it's a week, but I'm not sure when the timer 'starts') and it'll go back to normal.

The first time a chest is opened, it generates normal loot for you and the game starts a secret timer that lasts exactly 7 days (168 hours), right down to the minute. The second through seventh times you run that dungeon and open that chest, you also get normal loot. Starting from 8th time, you get a warning notice, the chest's gold and ordinary loot levels drops by 1 (cumulatively!), and many named items stop appearing. You get no loot at all once you've driven the loot level to 0. How long this takes depends on the initial loot level.

The ransack timer counts down even through game updates and server outages. Once it runs out, that chest refreshes completely. It'll provide full loot and start the timer again the next time it's freshly opened.

no loot is bull.. u can still pull named and rare items even after your stripped .. its also 6-8 times looting a chest not 8 before u go ransacked outdoor areas takes 1 week indoor instances takes 3 days... so even after your stripped/ransacked u can still pull the rare loot just nothing else

Congratulations! You are now officially a loot *****!!! Welcome to the club :D.

I recommed Xorian Cypher as another quest to run a lot for loot - and named items that are useful and or can trade/sell well (Planar Gird).

We used to 'sack' the Giant Caves in Threnal weekly as well when there were not a lot of quests to run.

If you are free to play I am sure others can recommend other fun level apropriate quests/zones to get loot as well as XP...

Curious wher eyou obtained such specific information that is so far off from what is generally accepted... I do beleive the 7 days was quoted from a dev some time ago.. I;'ve never heard of any chest resettingis just 3 days.

So you test sample includes one quest. Did you ransack it in one day? Or did you ransack it over a period of days?

Chests use to stay ransacked, because there was a bug on the timer, this was fixed in 2006. At that time, many people tested it and it is exactly 7 days. Everything I currently farm still shows it as 7 days.

Strange, because when I ransacked the Shroud after it re-opened in the fall after extended downtime (and had been totally unavailable on Cannith prior to that), I finished, then ran it again after the timer was up...and everything except the chests in Phase 5 were still ransacked. Exactly as expected.
