View Full Version : Are halflings the master race?

First they got all of the benefits of being halflings without the weapon size penalty.

That includes +1 attack/+1 armor that no one else can ever get. Which, by the way, cancels out the -2 Strength they get. 1 damage isn't a big deal, but 1 attack is.

Though I guess Dwarves can buy dwarven armor mastery as an enhancement to get their own exclusive AC bonus. If anyone still wore armor anymore, that is.

The halfling dragonmark is not only the only one worth taking, it's really, really good.

I guess I'm drawing a blank on why you wouldn't be a halfling, at least for most builds. Arcane casters of course usually benefit more from Drow, but everyone else needs a pretty good, specific if they decide to not roll halfling.

Because they're goofy-looking little weirdos whose heads look like they were sculpted in a wind tunnel and until recently ran like 8 year old girls. :D

NO... halflings aren't.

GNOMES are the master race...

They are so powerful even the Devs are afraid of them, otherwise they would be in this game.

It really depends.
If you're a sorcerer or wizard, Warforged is the way to go. There's pretty much nothing in the game that a Warforged with repair/Reconstruct spells can't tackle.

If you're a bard, cleric, Paladin, or Favored Soul, then you have enough healing that the halfling dragonmarks won't really help. You can be self sufficient without them.

For the majority of other builds, it can be very difficult to squeeze in three extra feats. But, if you can, the addition of the halfling dragonmark line can make for a very effective and self-sufficient character who can solo with ease.

Fighters and fighter splashes, due to their abundance of feats, are likely the best candidates.

Yes, yes they are, if only for the halfling guile and cunning enhancements.
I don't think I will ever again build a toon that isn't either a halfling or warforged.

Where as I did find it strange that halflings didn't get the weapon size adjustment, I didn't let it stop me from rolling a halfling. She's great too, Halfling Barbarian and she wields a greatsword. The irony of it made me want to play it. :D Oh and before they ran like little hunchbacks or neanderthals. Which sorta made sense with my whole halfling barbarian thing.

But they are not the only race that's awesome like that. Drow get none of the minuses they should have. Like light sensitivity, the whole level adjustment thing. On the other hand, they don't get their spell like abilities either. Did I just kill my own argument?

I admit...I'm a DDO racist.

Almost all my toons are 1/2 size and I <3 them. :D

I would say so but... somehow, and some way. Looking like a thin dessicated egghead monkey still ruins the free hit, dex, AC, and sneak attack die for me.

And that's saying something. =p

I have long been an advocate of this viewpoint. I kind of wish the other races were more awesome, so that I could justify using them because I like them better aesthetically.
