Doubt this gets read by anyone that can do anything. Also doubt I will get any response from anyone with any authority. But here start my ramblings be they as fruitless as they are.
Why did you open up a thread asking if we would like the new 2 to 12 notation instead of the old d&d staple? Every single post was a "please dont, we like d&d format"..and yet it went live. With no option to turn it off. My question is simple, if you open a thread asking for input, those people are giving you their input thinking it would be worth their time to give. It feels like a slap in the face. Again, please turn this back to proper dice.
Why did you open a thread on the TWF fix asking for input. And when it was horridly one sided for "please dont change this" you did anyways? again, you asked us for input, you got it. Extremely clear even, that your playerbase did not favor these changes...and you changed it. Why ask for input if it will be ignored? It feels like a slap in the face. Again, please turn it back to proper d&d rules, and find other ways to balance the game.
Why are you forcing me into a guild to stay competitive in power with my fellow players? I understand your looking to earn money from these airships. But why are you marginalizing/alienating those of us who like to stay unguilded? It feels like a slap in the face. Yet another grind mechanic, please abolish it.
Since you first went f2p I have been playing, and since day one i have heard very vocal veteran players moan about the lack of mid+ level content. Every update they (and now me) beg for more content where its needed most, and..we get another lev 5 adventure pack fresh off the press. Well written and fun, and completely unneeded. Is there a reason you are not listening to us? It feels like a slap in the face. I have over 250$ into the game now, but is my wallet not fat enough to be a voice worth listening to?
I know you place release dates on your updates. But when people are hollering of significant and numerous bugs on the test servers, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not stick to the release date. The degradation of play quality, the loss of items, the glitches. These are things we where better off without. It doesn't feel like a slap in the face, it feels like im playing a game with dev's completely disconnected from their customer base, and its annoying. Please debug updates fully before release. Why would this even be an issue, i have no clue.

+1 to you sir
Although I am not someone who can do anything actionable about your post, it puts your point across quite well.
Trust me when I say that you are not the only one feeling this way.
I have been playing for about 4 years now and although the devs/people in charge rarely ever posted on the forums about things like this you used to be able to see in game that they were listening. At this point in time it's hard to tell. I want to think that some one is listening to the players, I really do, but the actions I see tell me otherwise.

It was not ignored. What they implemented differs significantly from their 1st suggestion in that thread. Your assertion that they ignored input is blatantly false.

Who are you competing against? I don't get this attitude at all. If you don't want to be guilded, and you don't want to take part in owning an airship, don't. The game will be, for you, exactly the same as it was before.
The funniest thing is seeing posts from people who mention they like to solo, going on about how they can no longer compete without the airship buffs. Compete against who? Your hirelings???

Before this series of low-mid level content was a series of high level content updates. It goes in cycles. Just because the current cycle doesn't match your desires doesn't mean it isn't needed.

Hello and welcome to the real world. No MMO will ever release a bug free update of any significant size. You are extremely disconnected from reality if you don't get that.
i have no clue.

+1 to the OP for saying the things that need to be said! and to 7brain celled monkey, nowhere in his thread did he say he soloed, he said he was unguilded not the same! nothing he said was wrong or out of place but you still are a heavy slammer! get off your knees and out of your parents basement get some sun and if all goes well maybe two guys in white coats with a straight jacket will see you and take real good care of you. dont fight them they only want to help with your deep issues! so stop derailing every thread and making the op out to be something he isnt. -1 rep to 7brain cell monkey

Doubt this gets read by anyone that can do anything. Also doubt I will get any response from anyone with any authority. But here start my ramblings be they as fruitless as they are.
It seems to me like they read the threads. Things get locked etc. They comment sometimes. I'm sure they will read this. I highly doubt they will comment.
Why did you open up a thread asking if we would like the new 2 to 12 notation instead of the old d&d staple? Every single post was a "please dont, we like d&d format"..and yet it went live. If it's the one I'm thinking of (the long one) that was started by a player IIRC. Madfloyd commented that he heard us loud and clear but there was nothing that could be done about update 5 with regard to dice. I doubt it will ever be changed back but I think it's known now how much DnDers like the traditions.
Why did you open a thread on the TWF fix asking for input. And when it was horridly one sided for "please dont change this" you did anyways? again, you asked us for input, you got it. They did change based on player feedback. They didn't scrap the whole idea but they adjusted it. I think they clearly felt it needed to be done.
Why are you forcing me into a guild to stay competitive in power with my fellow players? I understand your looking to earn money from these airships. But why are you marginalizing/alienating those of us who like to stay unguilded? It feels like a slap in the face. Yet another grind mechanic, please abolish it.
I hear you. It sure seems like you miss out on good stuff if your unguilded now. Buffs to stats, long lasting buffs for tons of other stuff, XP bonuses, guild loot. The reason I didn't want to guild is because you basically are logging into a chat room whenever you play. "Jeremyt has logged on" and all. I like to play anonymously sometimes. (I've a very social job & RL - DDO is often a solitary escape for me.) Try and find one of the "soloist" guilds and join. I was p1ssed but now I've ended up happy in a guild of good people. /shrugs.
But here again, the devs heard the complaints and are changing guild loot in some unspecified manner.
Since you first went f2p I have been playing, and since day one i have heard very vocal veteran players moan about the lack of mid+ level content. Seems strange to add another quest pack in that range but I imagine higher level stuff takes longer to develop. Turbine probably wants to be able to advertise new quests more often then they can develop high level stuff so being able to say "Update 5 with the new quest Carnival of Shadow!" probably is better for them then "Update 5 With high level quests on the way..soon." . (That's just guesswork though.)
I know you place release dates on your updates. But when people are hollering of significant and numerous bugs on the test servers, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not stick to the release date. There is probably a whole lot of coordination between PR, sales, game devs, management, advertising etc. It's probably harder then you think for the game devs to throw on the breaks because people aren't thrilled with some elements of the update.
I'm not trying to minimize your concerns or say there isn't a kernel of truth there.
Just suggest that it's probably complicated and that maybe they listen more then you give credit for.
Peace.

I spend much of my time soloing (like or not, its a necessity of my situation) and I am a member of a guild, and I have not once said I can "no longer compete" without the airship buffs, so count me as at least one person that does not fit your generalization. I do, however, understand their view IFF what they mean is that the amenities and buffs that airships and guild items provide may cause the game (economy combat rules, etc.) to shift in a direction more toward those who are members of powerful guilds and less towards those who are not.
This is only a problem if those powerful guilds do not allow soloers in their ranks. (I use soloing as a definition of how one runs quests, not whether one is in a guild or not.)
For that matter, I've always wondered what would/will happen if/when those more powerful guilds decide to require certain activities/contributions/actions/payments, etc of their members to stay members of the guild I am really interested to see what might happen over time.
I hope you are having success with your "7 day trial."
(Yknow, I had a really rough day, and I forgot how nice it is to come and use the forums as a way to express how I feel. I know I shouldn't bother, but its way way too much fun!)

I was just suggesting that it may be an overstatement. Sometimes overstating something gets less done.
I do have a desire to see the game succeed. I don't think I'm a sheep. I'm not trying to kiss any one's rear. (What would that get me?) Seeing all the +1's, I would do better agreeing if I was just trying to get rep or something. I don't feel shameful either. Just calling it how I see it, just like you.
I'm not trying to get in anyone's business but posting a thread invites response in both the pro and con.
I felt I was polite in expressing my take on the situation.

I didn't say he was a soler. Nice reading comprehension. I was just bringing up a related complaint that is equally silly as the one in the OP.
That he doesn't like being in a guild or the idea of airships does not equate with taking them away from those who do. It's an absurdly self centered request on their part.
If they ignore it, they will see no difference. And yet they can't do that for some reason. So they whine to have it taken away from those are glad to have it.

You are making huge assumptions Monkey about how Guild amenities on airships wont affect unguilded players the same way people ignore how being able to buy advantageous items in the shop also affects players who cant afford to pay for them and don't have time to put into grinding to make up for that. Basically the same way players demands and expectations can shape in game economy they can shape gaming ideology. My guild are very helpful indeed and I think if I didn't have them I would be much worse off because they have provided for me at times when I couldn't and have not put demands on me that I have had from some pugs.

Since you like to bring up related stuff and obviously have the pulse of the player base, I am sure that you realize people are concerned about the power creep caused by the buffs on the airships.
Before this series of low-mid level content was a series of high level content updates. It goes in cycles. Just because the current cycle doesn't match your desires doesn't mean it isn't needed.
Which update was that? The last additions to high level content I can think of are Amrath and the Inspired Quarter. Now, I'm no historian, so does anyone know exactly which mod those where?
Wasn't the last update the level 5-7 stuff in House D?

Recent updates:
Update 1: The Path of Inspiration (Levels 18+) Epic content introduced.
Update 2: The Dreaming Dark (Levels 19-20)
Update 3: Four new free dungeons from levels 13-18. Epic Vault of Night.
Update 4: The Sentinels adventure pack. (Levels 6-8ish) also released as epic.
Update 5: Phiarlan Carnival. Also released as epic.
Sorry, but anyone saying that they've been neglecting high level content is just plain wrong. It looks to me like they're trying to shore up all levels of the game with new content. From what was leaked of U6, it looks like it's a mid-level pack next.

There are things I like about this Update, and lots of things I don't.
The guild stuff I could give or take, but there is a concern about power creep considering the guild buffs.
Really though it's only for lower or mid levels that this will have a great effect. At high level it is pretty hard to replace your gear with random loot that you can buff with crystals. Because almost any random gear with an additional buff won't be as good as the GS/Raid/DT armor/named loot. It's low and mid level that will the easily replacable loot where the good buffs will be a little too strong.
Not a huge concern as low and mid levels are easy enough. However I do find it somewhat off putting that if I join a big guild I will have access to all this, if I stick with my small guild or remain unguilded I won't. I have done nothing different as a player, I have "earned" nothing, I have only accepted an invite to a guild. Seems like railroading me into a large guild to take advantage of all this, which doesn't really sit well with me.
The combat changes. I know that TWF had to be toned down as it was the king of combat styles. There is very little difference in my rangers, however my paladin is noticably worse now and can no longer easily do what she used to and my bard went right down the crapper in terms of DPS. I'm taking a wait and see attitude with this though, I hope that there is a bit of an adjustment but not the end of the world.
The bugs! Dear lord the bugs! I know that there will be bugs with every release but the sheer number and what these bugs are is ridiculous. It really is unimpressive to see how bad it is and I hope that some of the more annoying ones get fixed very quickly. (Unequip at log in, AH missing items, Unable to even pick up new quest line).
There are good things about this Update, but the negative outweigh the postive by a very large margin for me. Most of what they implemented either could have been done better, tested better, or quite frankly left out completely. I hope the next update is done better.

I agree.
What Turbine has done here, is to make a MESS, and now it falls upon Tubs to clean it up.
As a paying customer, I did not pay them to make this mess, yet here it is...
As a paying customer, I WILL NOT pay Tubs to KEEP ON making this mess....
As a paying customer, my continued support STOPS with nerfdate5.
I have bought all the content/access I am going to buy, UNLESS and UNTIL tubs gets their collective minds right, AND cleans up the mess they have made (including free toon repairs), AND makes good faith efforts NOT to do it again.
Pre-nerfdate5, I used to occupy myself with building my toons as fun, decidedly edgy, "power builds" ("form-follows-function"), and I was willing to invest/pay reasonable premium too, for maximum return on investment, but no more;
Tubs has made it clear that they WILL intentionally pull the rug out from under such "fun" efforts in an apparent attempt to extort MORE cash; so therefore, from now on, my money stays in my pocket where it belongs, and until such time as Tubs figures out that they SHOULD be listening their loyal ("paying") customers, then I will play my DDO game conservatively--and I will do so as CHEAPLY as possible.
I find it telling that previous to nerdate5, in spite of the extra cost in money/time, I was motivated to build toons to get the most performance I could get from the given resources at hand;
but post-nerfdate, I am now motivated to build my toons on the cheap, exclusively "pure-class", strictly "plain-vanilla", and as "nerf-proof" as possible, with a distinct LACK of melee DPS interface, and I am encouraging anyone who will listen to do the same.
This is a deliberate reaction to having my custom TWFer melee toons nerfed: I am simply not willing to invest even more resources only to see the results get messed up in the "next" update.
