View Full Version : Meanies in Durk's

In "Durk's Got A Secret", I had just got into a group with my level 2 battlecleric and we were fighting the 2nd group of grey oozes in the corridor leading up to a T-Junction.
I got hit really hard from behind while fighting a different ooze and was knocked unconscious.
I posted in party chat "HEAL ME PLZ" several times because I was on -8 and unsure if I would stabilize as I do not have the Diehard feat.
Instead of healing me, a ranger (not the leader) dropped a grease spell and the wizard (same guild also not the leader) cast burning hands.
It did not even HARM the oozes when the grease lit up, but it killed me.
I recalled out and quit without saying anything because the party chat was filled with "LOL"s.

I don't know if this is serious or a parody but either way, ROFL.

If this is parody, then +1 for being so funny.
If not, then FYI OP, you can not be damaged by your party members AoE spells or effects.

I'm going with parody. :)
+1 Rep for it being funny and your first post. Hi. Welcome.

My sarcasm-meter may be off today, but sadly, I am not sensing parody.
As already mentioned, grease set ablaze ought not cause you damage - only baddies and the caster take damage.

I thought you could be hurt by the new grease-lighting mechanic...or is that just the caster that takes damage from that? (as per the description)
Either way, I hope it's a parody. If not, then the OP needs to learn that "HEAL ME PLZ" more than once in succession in party chat is the DDO equivalent of telling a cop "Shut up and go back to your car...I pay your salary, so just eff off!" (well, at least it seems to get a similar reaction) :D

Ok. On the off chance the OP was serious:
At level 2, the chance that the ranger in the party 1) knew that rangers can use wands and 2) actually one on them is too low to even consider. Sadly, most players new to rangers don't figure this out until level 6 or 7. And some as late as level 17. (No joke). Some know it and openly ignore it as it "doesn't fit their playstyle".
So, the chances are, unless there was a cleric, bard, or FvS in the party besides you that no one else was capable of healing you at that time. And no one carries heal kits, so don't even ask.
So once you went incapped, they were probably standing around waiting for you to either stabilize and stand back up or die so they could collect your soul stone and go to the shrine to get you rezzed.
While they were waiting, they were playing around with the new features. Your use of all caps in party chat to repeatedly demand a heal probably did not help their desire to take you to the shrine once you died, BTW.

Then just wow, as if Grease wasn't funny enough "without" it being able to cause damage to party members even without a cliff...

First issue: being a battle cleric.
Second issue: You got hit from behind? How can you tell? Did the ooze get sneak attack?
Third issue: all caps HEAL ME
Not enough drama as you didn't post the names of the characters or the guilds.
But, you did say PLZ... :D

Going from -8 to dead happens fairly quickly. Could it be possible that you simply died of natural causes and not the flaming grease your were drooling in?

Don't ruin it. It was the grease fire, most definitely, and on purpose.
Awesome. :D

you miss-spelled HJEAL
Next time, just buy heal pots :) and it'd probably help to have more than 28hps (not sayin that's your stat or anything...) not grabbing aggro.
