Fighter 18/Pally 2

Uses Daxes and shield - Greataxe when able
+200% hate - easy enough with greataxe - pretty doable with daxe/shield

I'd take skill focus: intimidate and even Bullheaded, along with 3 more toughness feats, instead of Shield Mastery, Improved Shield Mastery, Shield Bash, Improved Trip and certainly Die Hard.
(Or 1 toughness and weapon specialization&focus for 3 more damage, don't know how good it is on 2handers.)

Took SF:Inimidate (level 6) - should add Bullheaded
Main issue is that toughness is not a fighter feat
Will juggle things around and see how many I can drop in favor of toughness
I think toughness should be better than weapon specialization&focus

Kept Shield Mastery/Imp Shield Master - don't see how +6 DR is a bad thing
Went up the feat line for Spring Attack
Ended up with 1 extra toughness, could possibly get things a bit later and get one more toughness, but I think the 6 DR and spring attack should work well

Was thinking about cleave/Gcleave/Wwind - but seemed to see a lot of negative comments, and now that daxe gets glancing I imagine they have even less appeal

Does paladin 2 add enough to this build to be worth the levels and stat pts spent on CHA? I'm somewhat skeptical and I say that as someone who loves having high saves.

I'm not an expert on tanks, but I prefer rogue 2 / fighter 18 like Big Rock Candy; I consider Evasion + UMD more useful - and less stat-intensive - than doing paladin 2 for Divine Grace. Here's my attempt at a newb-friendly dwarf Evasion tank (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=257893) (32-pt build puts extra pts into CON). My build gives up Divine Grace, of course, and has a point less BAB and lower Intimidate thanks to CHA being a dump stat. But I gained UMD, Evasion, extra skill points, and higher base STR, DEX, INT, & CON (on 32 pts), which I considered worth the tradeoff. Looks like you took extra Toughness feats & enhs so your build has higher HPs; I think I went for a bit more DPS. The low Will saves suck, but once you're buffed with Prot. from Evil, Freedom of Movement, etc. it won't be so bad (knock on wood). True Neutral means I can't use Good-aligned weapons until my UMD gets high enough; but it also lets me use Stability items and makes me immune to Unholy dmg, so it's a reasonable tradeoff.

Can you tank f18/r2? - absolutely
Is UMD + Evasion great? - absolutely
But...

Is having high saves great? - absolutely
Is having higher intimidate great? - absolutely

You can't have both, so...
That's what this build is about, it's not a contest - it's an option

And so I'm trying to find the best high inimidate/hate/high saves build

True enough, so then my question is which is better: fighter 18 / paladin 2 or paladin 18 / ftr 2? The former obviously has a lot more feats, but the latter will have even higher saves, auras, and some nice boosts to burst DPS (Smite Evil, Divine Might, etc.). I like Lord of Rage's dwarf pally 18 / ftr 2 DoS build (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=254393) and am considering trying it out; but I've never played a DDO tank before so I'm still mulling it over.

pally 18 has some great benefits - but it seems it will fall short on intimidate
be great to have pally 3 though
