...just wait until:
Monk: "****, Anyone got any handwraps?"
Group: "Did yours break?"
Monk: "No, my guild renown dropped and I can't equip them anymore!"
Insert any class/item combo you like. ;)

How about a wiz going to cast a firewall and gets the message "you don't have the component for that spell". :D

Anyone running around with just a pair of handwraps like any other melee running around with a single weapon deserves the title "noob".

It's called a backup plan. Have one. If your a monk and carry around just 1 set of handwraps, why? Keep some for all occasions. Heck if your a player in general, keep some for all occasions.

I think people are missing the point of this.
What if you were swinging a sword that just *poof* vanished because your renown dropped.

Turbine really doesn't think things through do they? Yes as a few people have previously posted. What happens to your equipment the moment guild renown decays? Imagine this,
Fighting the dragon inn VoN with guild members. 'Come on guys, we're almost there!!' Suddenly, guild renown decays. Message comes out 'Your guild renown has dropped. You no longer meet the pre-requisite to equip so-and-so item' Suddenly 12 naked people are trying to poke a dragon in the eye with their fists.

As much as i don't like your posts, I'm gonna have to give you rep. You seem to be the only one who gets the point here.
It's not about "They should have more than 1 weapon"

It's rather funny if you imagine that situation happening to a monk only guild.
"oh no guys, our armor and weapons are gone!"

Except that it won't unequip you. If you take it off, you won't be able to re-equip it, but suddenly not meeting the requirements won't force-unequip it.

Since the renown items will have augment slots, thereby being more powerful, your arsenal of items will likely soon become dominated by renown augmented items... Imagine the vast majority of your gear, equiped and/or in your bag suddenly all becoming useless...

It's my understanding that UMD works this way. I have several people in my guild that get buffed to be able to equip something and are able to keep using it when the UMD buff goes away. If this is no longer the case, then I rescind my previous statement,

Anyone have any item that requires renown of greater than 25 yet? If not, I see a whole lot of failure of reading comprehension, or just a whole lot of people complaining that didn't keep up with what was posted about decay on Lama.
Do I for see greater than 25... I don't see why not. Just make certain you help your guild keep the renown active. Not as easy as UMD, but... meh. Gear is always a pick and choose.

And here comes the way to abuse it. If this is the case, then people will try to hold out as long as possible wearing that equipment they refuse to take off regardless of their guild level.
Let's see. Someone wants to wear a level 85 guild item. Join a level 85 guild, wear the item, then quit the guld. Voila, instant equip and they never have to take it off. Don't you think ahead before you post?

Last I checked, it goes bye bye if you change any gear on your character because that is when the next UMD check happens.

It checks anytime you switch gear of any form...so while you can buff and equip something when the umd lowers and you have to swap gear it will unequip you. (clicky, weapon type for the next enemy, swapping boots, twinkets, featherfall, Underwater action)

Assuming things are (at least roughly) the same as they were on Lammania, that won't work at all. You get to fill the aug crystals if your guild is of the appropriate level, and the crystal lasts for 6 hours. So, your scheme works if you want to repeat it every 6 hours or so.
Awesome.

Since Each time you log in, you have to re-equip the items (computer does it for you, but note your SP and HP are less than 100%, as your gear was off for a moment)... I don't think that will work..
As for UMD, The last I knew, each time you change a piece of equipment (I.E. Weapons, scrolls, helms, whatever) you make a UMD check to all equipment. So each time my fighter swaps between his GS and his Vorps, a UMD check is made on his RR Necklace. If my UMD is below spec, then the item falls off. I see the same here with guild renown items. Doubt things will fall off mid fight, but if you change your gear infight, you might loose something.

What he said. In order for this to be an issue, you would have to be at guild level 45 or 75, and be raiding while your renown decay happens, and have it fall far enough to drop you down a level. Honestly, I'm doubting this will ever happen, considering named items won't have guild slots. Monks, admittedly, might be screwed if the stars aligned to hit them though.

Well, you do have to change gear throughout quests...

The first chest I opened last night after Update 5 went live had minimum guild level 10 gloves in them. I was slightly annoyed that I might not be able to auction them for as much as a non MGL item, but I really have no problem whatsoever with the theory behind MGL items.
It's no different than a company car. You get fired, you don't have the car anymore. Your company goes bankrupt, they can't afford the car anymore, etc.

I looted some +6 STR bracers with +repair. It was nice, because my current +6 STR bracers have +healing. As a WF, it would have been a neat little upgrade. Nothing major, but an upgrade is an upgrade. However, I could not equip them, due to the guild req.
Lame.

Yeah, not exactly fun. But really, it's not the theory of MGL that's the problem, it's just people wanting to wear stuff they can't. The system is built on solid logic, whether or not we like it. The way I see it, it's just like getting a race required item and not being a UMD character, except with MGL items, you can eventually hit the required level AND you can upgrade said equipment with the augment crystals when you get there. For RR items, if you're not a UMD character, you'll never be able to wear it, nor could you upgrade it with ease.
I do, however, think maybe there should be a loot option to "turn off MGL loot" or something for end rewards, just like you can turn on/off class-specific loot.

A valid statement would have been: it's no different than for my car, and if my company fires me, I don't have the car that I earned/paid for/otherwise received in a manner that did not include my company giving it to me.
See the problem?

OP: How is running out of arrows a “bad” thing? I’ve always believed it was a sign for players to use something more effective (like melee weapons or an Arcane Archer build).
Edit: Oh… I get it! You’re talking about the ranged portions of epic DQ raids!
