View Full Version : So what happened to the forums? Where did our side navigation go?

Seems like in addition to the stuff on the AH being goofy and the LFG window not lining up with the topic titles, the other major bug that has been affecting me is that now all traces of the side navigation on the left hand side is completely gone when I go to the forums in IE.

I am hoping this is just a bug, and NOT some effort to make the site match what the player sees in the in-game browser, because if you were going to do that, then allow the ingame browser to be resizable and put IN the side navigation - not take it away from us when we aren't ingame!

A little coverage of what has happened and how to get around it : http://ddo-daily.com/forum-main-page-fix

Or just http://forums.ddo.com/?styleid

Haha, I had a feeling it had to do with exactly that.

While I don't approve of censorship, I do get the reasoning, if they are trying to buy time to get things fixed.

+5 Rep! That was driving me nuts.

...seriously, I'm going to hunt down posts from you and keep adding rep every day for that.

The censorship part is not confirmed by any Turbine representative, but is my own opinion.

Navigating too quickly was causing forum lag...so.

It was done to control negative information.

Try this though: forums.ddo.com?styleid=1

It had nothing to do with censorship or trying to control threads or posts that could be found anyway.

That page uses a special module through the forum software. When something like yesterday's server issues happen or there is an extended downtime, this module causes extra stress on the web servers. In order to mitigate that extra stress we turned that module off until the traffic slowed down on the forums. That is all. If we really wanted to censor people, there are far easier ways to do it than changing the site. ;)

Hmmm.... What did you do wrong that you have been punished by being sacrificed to the angry natives?

Thanks for the info. Any tentative estimate on when the module will be re-enabled?
