View Full Version : Ddo the movie?

Suppose Time Warner were to decide to make a movie, or three, based on Ddo. As a fan,
what quests would you like to see incorporated into these movies?
What quest (arcs) do you think are pivotal to the story of Stormreach so far?
Character races and classes to be included? Real life action? 2D? CGI?
Just something that's been in my mind since Turbine was bought out.
Cheers

I want a fun, easily drawn cartoon.
I would like rather than a movie...I would like episodes.
I would also like the characters to be funny.
Waterworks because it is a classic.
And then Tempest Spine and then Stealer of Souls.
Somewhere between TS and SoS...I want Wiz-King because I think it would be a cool adventure to be done in cartoon.

Im afraid the DnD genre hasn't yer recovered from the last Dungeons and Dragons movie (imdb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0190374/)). And if anything - then something along the Avatar-ish. Seeing as this will be a perfectly viable future sub-genre.
But don't think it'll happen any time soon.

i think the VON chain would be some good material for a movie
diverse scenery and plot
or the IQ series ( good for horror movies )
and as for classes and races .... WF would be something new and of course drow
I'm sick of elves as the personification of a hero

It would be based on the forumites rather than the game. SPIKE would pick it up, make it a 5 part made for TV movie, time place it right after UFC and gather fans based on the drama and hilarity that we bring here! ;)

They should have Celimas, Jeets and Talbron do the opening intro. Show some episodes of a group of adventurers doing WW, Gwylan's, Haywire Foundry, and end it with fighting a Dragon (not sure which quest Mired, VoN or....?) Of course, animate the whole thing or it'll just be youtube DDO. Or use real life CG like LOTR.

I'd love to see a GOOD movie based on D&D, and the whole Stormreaver storyline would make for a good beginning, IMO.
Unfortunately, as already posted, D&D movies have already been made that give the genre a bad name, so I doubt any money would be readily available there.
Speaking of horrible D&D movies, these 2 were not mentioned(neither was any good):
D&D movie direct-to-DVD sequel: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0406728/
Dragonlance chronicles Vol1(animated): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0825245/
edit: Just wanted to add...to anyone that can brave it, I recommend watching the D&D movie sequel, simply to see what the producers/director thought a great and powerful Lich should be like...it's worth the laugh! ;)

Most of the chains are pretty much pack and/or house centered so make your pick.
A few chains link packs like:
The arc of korthos (Aussircaex) is followed with tempest spine (Sorjek), gianthold (Stormreaver), reaver's reach (Aussircaex and Sorjek).
The arc of water works is followed with STK and invaders.
The arc of the twelve is on the vale including the subterranean but the war with the devils goes on to amrath, possibly devil's assault too.
Edit:
As for D&D movies, i believe the whole genre is being given the sh..., uhm, derogatory piercing.
Sort of which happens when u try to mix hollywood with japan, the result is awful.
Poor adaptations of fantasy series include the Earthsea novels, despite the author's repeated efforts.
Not sure what to make from WB having any amount of rights to d&d but still have to throw money at any blockades real or imagined.
And this goes beyond movies, games and comics are also vulnerable to distribution issues and conspiration theories.

It would first be in color then they'd nerf it to black and white.
The sequal would go from Dolby Stereo to mono sound.
The movie would pause every few seconds due to lag.
When all the heros would seem to develop into their potential near the end of the movie, a terrible storm would sweep the land leaving them crippled untill they started all over from a child.
Lastly you'd have special glasses needed to watch the movie which you'd have to buy from the ddo store.

I'd say that should do the Necro chain....
What that dead floating head is on our side?????
Although if it did ever happen (and look at Legend of the Seeker *sob*) they'd probably go Shavarath story line :/
What is it about demons and devils? Although the nekkid female succubus is a crowd pleaser :/ I would do anything to get some Gnome bashing......

You'd only have a random chance at seeing some of the good scenes. You'd have to keep watching over and over to eventually see the entire movie.(It would be titled "DragonTouched")
