View Full Version : Need an explanation of how the Tukaw build works

Ok, so I've read the official Tukaw Build thread. It looks very interesting, but I'm not a veteran player so alot of the jargon and terminology doesn't make sense to me. Can anyone break down the key points of how this build is meant to work?

I know this is probably asking a lot, but you don't have to hold anything back. I'm pretty well versed in the basic concepts of how DDO works, and I've been playing for about a year now. But trying to read that thread I just get completely lost. As far as I can tell its based around damage shields, divine power clickies, some melee, and high DR. But what I can't figure out is how all that is combined, or how its achieved or implemented.

Help me out here?

It's your basic arcane melee-type with evasion & nice saves.

THF for main damage without glancing blows.
Divine Power to hit stuff.
Area of effect spells/nukes when appropriate.
Rogue for nice UMD, intim (if points put into it), traps & evasion.
Some prefer monk for evasion & 2 more feats - myself included.
Paladin gives bonus saves.
Sorcerer for faster casting speed/cooldowns over wizard.
Spam reconstruct while fighting to self heal.
Damage guards/sp guards to add more dps/heals.

So its primarily a melee build, then? Just stacking up the damage shields and reactive gear to get a little more DPS, and using AoE like firewall when its appropriate?

Its awesome is what it is.

Its a DR intimitank with excellent self healing. Its melee DPS is very sub par, but the guard damage more than makes up for it.

My Tukaw, although unfinished, does 45-50 a swing base damage, has 500HP, and an infinate supply of mana and self healing. It can solo a lot of end game content without issue.

Right, I got all that from the original Tukaw thread. I was looking for details of how it works.

How do you get this massive DR? How do you solo end-game content? I'm assuming you're not just zerging in and swinging away.

Key items appear to be a MinII greataxe and a torc, and DP clickies, but what else? Also, some general tactics for approaching hard fights would be useful as well.

key item:

Docent of defiance: dr20
hound sheild: dr27 for a total of 47 when dod is active

Torc and concord opp for mana

Divine power and min2 grtaxe for attack

Well u need 3 docent of defiance and 3 hound sheild to solo vod!

So yea zergin.. run to end... sheild block till Docent pop... CK or fw or fog... cleave with min2 or vorp or ramhs might... spam reconstruct if needed or fireball etc...
