Hey all,

Well my PUGing cleric has made it to level 17 and I did my first shroud run last night. I've started to look into the greensteel items that I kept hearing about and collecting my ingredients. I ddoored out as I wasn't sure what to do and ended up doing another 2 runs, ddooring out each time.

I had to do my portal initiation...hohoho...you @**($)($ :)

Anyhoo....my question was, why do people choose to ddoor at the end.....someone told me it is because you have to reflag (ie assemble those shavarath stones again), when I thought about having to do coal chamber again...I vomited a little in my mouth! However ddo wiki says you don't have to flag.

Is it because of the raid timer and ppl are farming ingedients? Do you have to reflag for the shroud?

Cheers all and all you leet (but fun!) high level peeps, keep an eye out for me as I'm flagged for most raids now but need grps to do them :)

People leave the Shroud early so they can continue to loot the chests in p1-p4.

When you complete a raid you cannot play it again for 2 days and 18 hours on that character. People farming ingredients often leave so that they can run it more often per char. No you do not have to reflag, though to make more then one greensteel item you need to run the quests again I believe, as you have to combine the shavarath stones you get at the end of the flagging quests to make another signet stone.

All raids have timers. For someone without enough characters to run the shroud to completion as often as they wish, or for someone who needs small and medium ingredients, rather than large, it makes perfect sense not to complete.

Part 5 is the main chest you get larges out of, but you can also get some out of part 4. If you run it not to completion 3 times, you're getting about as many larges as you would running it to completion once, however, you gain more med and smalls (good for you) and don't have to wait on timer.

However, if you don't plan on running more than 1 shroud every 2 or 3 days, then complete. Only choose not to complete if you plan on running multiple shrouds in the new couple of days.

The only reason I leave the shroud before completion is when i want to craft but haven't gotten a Small Shard of Power yet.

For some reason, people enjoy the end result of having scads of T1 and T2 ingredients in their bags to the point where they could craft 5 T2 items but still not have enough to craft a single T3 item.

The only reason people do not complete the shroud is because the shroud is bugged. All raid chests should be locked or not appear until the quest is completed like all other raids in DDO. The developers will hopefully remedy this as soon as possible because the design is flawed.

Because if they complete it, they'd have to log off for three days.

Ding, ding, ding.

While some will farm the Shroud over and over on one character for Larges from the Chest in Part 4, grinding for a Small Shard is the only reason I ever have.

Small and Medium Ingredients can get you a nice item and or weapon crafter to tier II - but those Small Shards (you only need one per item/weapon) are hard to get - especially when you need them!

Let your groups know you are looking to craft your first item (that opens the door to recommendations like what slot/upgrade for your Build) and need Shards - and chances are they will help you out, as I like to do when I pull a Shard I don't need.

Once you have a small Shard and enough small ingredients (again people will help you out if you are short as they are probably in the position I am in with plenty of small and especially medium ingredients to help someone out with one or two) you WILL want to complete so you can go back and craft your first item!

Choose wisely, what item and slot, or you may have a regret later when you have two really nice items for a particular slot.

Good luck,

Barumar

Most peps grinding Shroud like forever - still are unlucky getting a small shard >> or grinding small / medium ingredients.
I am certain; Small shards got greater evasion .( Should be supreme shards >> hence the name )

Just the point in Red; maybe because I pugged Shroud a bunch when guildies weren't available, but I ended up announcing I would trade a Large Scale for my Shard of Power. I had farmed Part 1 several times before that and never got it.

That doesn't really work very well for a raid that is divided into parts, like the Shroud is. If your group wipes in part 5 then all your efforts in parts 1-4 go unrewarded. This directly contradicts what it was designed for in the first place, a tiered quest to provide various levels of loot based on a player's ability,

Sure. But ONLY IF they i) put shards on the DDO store or ii) increase the shard drop rates. Change like this will also push the prices on AH up and favor long-time players dramatically over newbies.

It might force people to run Amarth more though.
