Reusing character names

Too lazy to keep searching the forums lol, I have a question. If I delete a character, can I reuse the name it had? And if I can, how long do I have to wait?

The name is back in circulation as soon as you click delete after you retype the name on the character screen. Once deleted the name may be picked by anyone including yourself.

Just know but doing so might mess up your entry in MyDDO. The site they are trying to push for use, but fail to get out of BETA.

I have a character that is still on there that has been delete for weeks now, also can't use the name again as it continue to point to that old characters details.

I advice, you delete the character, log out, quit. Then check if it's still on MyDDO. If gone then create the new character. If it's still there, try log in and out a few times, while going into another character.

Of course doing so gives a time window when others can grab your character name, so it has a risk. And since Myddo really doesn't matter for much of anything...

Hmmm I have never had myddo not allow me to reuse the character name, granted sometimes it will still point to the old character.

And since Myddo really doesn't matter for much of anything...True for the time window, but they are trying to push more and more features to the MyDDO resource. The lottery is tied to the character entry, so having it linked to a non existent character will most likely result in any winnings never arriving [it's mailed].

Who knows what other features that are character linked that might be introduced in the future. If you can fix the problem now, to ensure it's not an issue and not have to rely on Turbines lack of customer service, then I guess it's better to fix/avoid it yourself [if you can].

But who knows, I'm not risking it.

Thank you for your inquiry. Once a character is deleted, you should be able to retake the name, if it is available. If you deleted a character and you wait some time, it is possible another player could take the name.
