Truly depends what you're into.

I went a couple of months ago -- my work paid for me to attend a workshop for a couple of days.

Stayed at Caesar's. Nice place -- fantastic pool, decent buffet, but I hesitate to gamble there much (though I did okay.)

I prefer to slum it. Spent some serious time at the lower-rent strip properties of Casino Royale and the Imperial Palace. Had a ton of fun, but discovered that you don't bother calling your free drinks; they bring you whatever bottom rack **** they've got on hand.

In any case, glad you're going, and hope you have a ton o' fun.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the advice - I appreciate it! I'll have to try and sneak into the Caesar's pool :)

any other tourist attractions that are a must-see in Vegas?

Vinnie Favorito @ the The Flamingo

Show Times for The Vinnie Favorito Comedy Show: Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm; Sundays at 8:30 pm.

Tickets: Ticket prices begin at $47.20. For $11 more you can be upgraded to VIP seating, which places you closer to the stage - and ups the likelihood that you'll be an unwitting participant in the show.

It all depends on what you like.

Theres lots of different shows and many things to do and see.

You have to spend one night just walking the strip and taking in the town. The water show in front of Belagio goes off every hour along with the pirate show at treasure island.

Personally I live in Vegas and avoid the strip and such and haven't seen a show in years. So show wise it's hard to recommend anything. But as visitors I do recommend seeing all the lil free shows and just walk the strip.

Other than that have fun and be careful of the machines they can grab ya easy :D

That's one thing I failed to mention: The pools are AMAZING at Caesars.

In-n-out burger. They have a secret menu (http://www.badmouth.net/in-n-outs-secret-menu/) here, and I strongly recommend animal style.

In-N-Out is great, but not special to Las Vegas. You can find them pretty much anywhere in California, Nevada, Arizona, and some other places. But I guess if you're only out this way for a visit, then that could be special :) (Culvers is another great burger chain if you're ever in the Midwest)

I've only been to Vegas once when I was younger on a family trip out west (even though I guess I live fairly close now). It was pretty exciting to stay at a Holiday Inn (Best Western, whatever), swimming in the outdoor pool and have a guy jump the fence to the pool followed by some police officers... :D

Best two hours we spent were at the Blue Man Group show.

Not cheap! But awesome.

There's all the stuff mentioned and the stuff you cant miss noticing (stratosphere roller coaster, fantastic buildings, shows ($$$ yikes!) etc) also hit the breakfast buffets! (joke)

I don't know how long you will be in Vegas but if it's a week or so you could make a day drive to the Grand Canyon. Along the way there is Native American attractions, beautiful rock trail walks, the painted dessert, the petrified forest and spectacular views all around. Then of course the Canyon.
You have to leave early in the morning and will get back very late but if your going to be there a while it's a nice change of pace and it's mostly cheap.
Have fun!

Edit - there is also tourist traps <cough, cough> I mean attractions like "oddball" museums. (atomic testing museam, Guinness World Records, Pinball Museum). I hit a couple. They are cheesy and small time but good for a larf or two. Also helicopter tours and balloon rides, pricey but very cool.

My favorite part about vegas is walking down the street at 9am completely hammered from the night before and still drinking.

Do some of that.

(I might have a problem :o)

Ha ha. we had a good time!

visited the hotels, jumped a few fences....
walked around with beers in hand all day :)
took a trip to Red Rock Canyon - which is close, and a good short hike.
then missed our plane coming back :P - that was fun.

Glad you had fun!
Red Rock Canyon is great. Best $5 value in Vegas, unless they raised the price.
I guess you did the creek trail hike and not just the drive through, cool. :)
Guess if you have to miss a flight Vegas is one of the better places (slot machines in toilet stalls etc).
Welcome back to the real world.
