Hello everyone, I'm new to DDO, first logged in yesterday. It's been YEARS since I've done anything even remotely D&D. That said, I have a question, my baby monk is using Soren's Handwraps (acid damage) from the starter quest. Since the corpses melt when I make the kill, do any items being carried disappear as well? Or, is all loot in the game hidden in either breakables, chests, quest rewards or crafted? i.e. no monster loot drops?

Thanks for any assistance.

Mobs generally dont drop loot. It tends to come from chests and quest rewards. Generally no XP from mob kills either, fyi.

Collectables drop from mobs but Acid won't keep you from getting them.

The exceptions to this rule are if you are in an explorer area you get XP for acceiving certain numbers of kills and the bonus XP in quests for killing a certain number of mobs.

Back when DDO was new, killing monsters with fire/cold/acid (which destroys the bodies) would also prevent the monster from dropping a collectable bag. It made Holy/Shock weapons disproportionately desirable, since they didn't reduce loot. When Turbine added in death animations for Holy/Thundering/etc, they also made it so that vaporized corpses would still leave "loot" behind.
