Please give some consideration to to adding a decay mech to the quest re-run count for the purposes of generating XP penalties.

I completely get, and agree with, the need to push people toward variety. That is a very good thing. But, as others have pointed out, the game has come to a point where we get mixed messages regarding that point. So I think the underlying principle needs to be re-evaluated. Is the objective really to make folks only run quests a few times max and move on, or is it more that continuously grinding the same quest over and over is unwanted behavior?

Assuming the latter, wouldn't it make sense to remove the penalty should folks actually do that... move on?

Two methods leap to mind...
A) a simple time decay. Track how many times the quest has been run in the last X days, or
B) track the last X number of quests run, and penalize based on how many times that quest comes up in that list of X.

Please note, I am *not* requesting a new chance at "first run" bonuses.

Actually, given the f2p model, it is now very important to cut players off their exp grinding. If you made a penalty decay, then f2p players would play the same easy quest until it gave a full penalty, then move to another quest that is free.

Rinse and repeat down the line of free quests, and they would reach level 20 without buying any content to enjoy besides what is given to them.

It would kill the consumer aspect of the game.

Yes, but, that's boring, and there would still be plenty of incentive to try quests

It is already possible to cap a lvl 20 character simply with the F2P content available, and buying the vale. You don't even need to repeat the quests that much, nor farm more than the first couple tiers of slayer in explorer zones.

Anyway any decay mechanism would be something along the lines of -1 repetition per week. At best, it would help the ultra casuals get more out of the few quests they love to do over and over. Powergamers would see no benefit from anything short of -1repeat/hour.

Yes, this would be a valuable feature to add, with a timer of around 1 week or so.

Note that when it was brought up previously a developer agreed with the feature- but that was long years ago.

A good idea and has been brought up before. Decay rate of one a week will be a plus to casual gamers and won't affect power gamers at all.

Reason it won't happen, less incentive to buy adventure packs if you can get more XP on easy F2P packs you are familiar with.

/Signed.

As long as it does not apply to the 20 completions loot from raids =D

This is a great idea.

There are some quests I love playing, it'd be great to be able to repeat them every so often without a repetition penalty, because as soon as I get to a certain level, I'll be too high to get any experience from them anyway, so I'd need to move on to higher quests regardless.
