There's many times I'm looking at the forums or off the DDO screen for several minutes and I'll come back and I've got tells and such, but I'm not sure how long ago they actually /tell'd me.

I'd like to see an option in the future for a chat timestamp and possibly an in-game clock so I can see when chats were recieved.

I don't have a clock in mu computer room (there's a clock on my computer -- almost always handy, except when playing games in full screen mode). This is really very easy to implement (I've done it before on many projects I've worked on).

Ingame clock along with Stormreach Local Time would be superb - this makes arranging raids, meetings and events easier for everyone across the globe.

And timestamps would be great - perhaps a way to toggle them on and off if someone feels like it is annoying or just spammy.

+1 Yes, as far as I am concerned these are both basic functionality that should be in _every_ mmo game.

I jsut started playign DDO recently, and it has really great quests and atmosphere, but the poor UI will probably make me switch to another MMO fairly soon....

I so agree, both an in-game time and timestamps are needed much! :)

it looks like the chat is pretty simple too - irc'ish. i cant imagine that timestamps would be that hard to do at all!

Oh my.. My thread came back from the dead! Someone's got the Thread Necromancy feat!

I was just thinking about making a new one, but I suppose I'll still voice my support here for my year old suggestion *cough*.

I especially like a clock that shows Stormreach Local Time (UTC +12:00? to avoid using anyone's actual local time ... or maybe UTC - 5:00 so it would reflect Turbine's local time)

It could be integrated into a building facade already extant in each of the Houses, and Marketplace, etc, so it would have a slightly different flavor in, say, Korthos Village than in House K ...

OOOooooOO good idea. a BIG ben clock in market. with game time. at least a game time would help.

P.S. dear turbine your adds are messing with my log ins and posts. tell them to stop being ass' and just show the stupid adds. no needs for assholish popups

/signed on the timestamps.

I don't care much for the clock, as there's always some chatter ( guild, party or general ) that will provide a reasonably fresh timestamp.

I'll add to that, as long as we are fiddling with the chat windows the ability to dump the content of said windows in one or more file ( 1 file for all or 1 file by tab up to the devs really ).
File to be cleared upon client start ( so that it doesn't get huge ).
And the file dump shall include combat log ( so that we can review why we got one shot by XXX after the fact instead of browsing through the log while the Cleric is trying to raise you ), and other command logs ( like /quest, /quest completions, /listchannels, /alias ... )

I remember this feature from eq and I miss it in this game. Also how about being able to determine the total time played for one of your characters?

The combat log should include timestamps as well - down to the millisecond, so we can accurately calculate DPS numbers.

^THIS^

I doubt they'll put in a clock, the devs wouldn't want to remind you of how much time you've been wasting, at least not directly:) but some :43, :21 etc timestamps would be nice

I have long wanted a simple command '/time' that would display ingame time. How easy is that?

that would be my concern over having it

You don't need a time stamp for tells thanks to immutable law of the gaming universe #18:

The importance and urgency of a message received while AFK is directly proportional to how long ago it was sent.

"cya tomorrow I'll be on at the usual time" type tells are received seconds before you come back to the game.

"we've traced the call and it's coming from inside the house! Get out of there!" type tells are received 0.00001 seconds after going AFK for an hour.

Timestamp in chat will be awsome.. so it is easy to see what time, what message came in what chat.. ;-)
