Hello Thelanis! Our guild, Attacks the Darkness, is offering up its officers to teach new people how to run some of the raids in DDO. We know that joining PUG raid groups can be rather intimidating and many people who are unguilded or who are in newer guilds are not getting accepted into groups. We want to help people learn how to run raids, contribute according to their class, and get some good raid loot that will help develop characters further. AtD has committed to at least once per week posting a date and time in these forums to lead new people through many of the raids in DDO. Please note the following:
1) We will plan on having at least 6 of the positions available for New players that sign up on the forums - the rest of the spots in the raid will be filled with AtD officers and members to provide guidance and leadership
2) Raids will be led by AtD Officers who have a strong history of successfully leading the raid being entered.
3) If you sign up for one of our teaching raids please be on time - after 5 minutes we will give up your spot to someone else.
4) We are a mature guild and as such are looking for people 18 years of age or older please
5) We also ask that you have voice enabled and a microphone to speak - this is a teaching exercise and as such you need to be able to communicate easily.
This is not a recruitment strategy by AtD - we believe there is a need on the server for some help provided to new players and are offering up our guild leadership to increase knowledge. If however you turn out to be great and fit with the guild recruitment is always a possibility.
A little bit about AtD - we are one of the oldest guilds on the server - a smallish guild with approximately 18 active players at the moment. All of our guild members contribute equally and work together to complete quests and raids. We are generally of a mature age and play style, with little drama tolerated in our groups/raids. AtD has some seriously strong players on the server, players with significant knowledge base about builds, equipment and quest/raid completions.
Our first teaching raid will start with the Shroud this Tuesday June 8th at 8:00pm Eastern Standard Time. Make sure you are flagged and ready to roll at 8!
Flagging for Shroud - you need to have completed the 5 Vale Quests - received your 5 pie pieces and forged the signet stone in the Meridia altar. If you are Free to Play you would have to have also purchased the adventure pack for the Vale of Twilight.
Please either PM back to me (Glorious) or post in this thread is you want to sign up.

The +1 rep hardly seems commensurate with how cool this is. A great contribution to the ddo community. Very cool, thank you AtD.

Great idea.
Me and privan from Claw have kinda started something like this with regard to the abbott on weekends, its to help us as much as others, easy to spot - newbie abbott join to learn and maybe complete lfm.
I'm still iffy on titan, hard to learn it in a pug tbh so i'd be interested in learning the titan ropes.

A great idea.
I think something that will also aid players is some raid equipment pre-req's in addition to the flagging req's that you have posted.
For example, specific to shroud, you may want to encourage players to find and bring weapons with good and silver/metalline with them to bypass DR. Letting players know a few days before-hand will allow them to go through the auction house and find some.
All of this information can already be found on the forums, but again, since we are talking about newer players, directing them to a single thread with per raid information will make it easier to digest.
Regardless, this is an excellent idea and hopefully more teaching raids will start to appear.

For anyone that posted and PM'd to me about tonight - I will post up the Shroud Run under my Favoured Soul Gloried with a message in the LFM posting that it's a New Person Training Run - see you at 8:00pm!

I'd be all over this if it was at a different time but I can't make it online until about 9 PM EST normally. Another AtD member, Trombone, talked me through my first Hound run not long ago and it's great to see veterans taking time out to get newer people up to speed. Kudos.

OK
Titan Pre Raid.
Haven't a CLUE how to do this. And the raid also.
Heck most of Restless Isles. I'd like t o teach my guildies but this raid has been left off my list for the reason of lack of knowledge.
There...First Victim (I think) And sending Pemp to help doesn't count!

There are lots of people in our guild that do that Titan with almost surgical precision so I can post that one for next week's Teaching Raid...it will be fun!

I will be logging in shortly (probably about 10 minutes) and am quite willing to walk some folks through some or all of the titan pre-requisites.
oh, I'm not in AtD, I just like Glory... and most of their folks. Especially the warforged. ;)

Haven't been playing long but have capped two toons now and neither of them have stepped foot on the restless isles. Only heard how annoying it was but also heard how great the loot from Titan is :P. My third toon is a WF Wizard and he's in the perfect range for Titan (lvl 12 atm). If you guys run this raid either with capped chars or with lowbies I'd be interested in learning it. Thanks

I was just thinking the last few days about starting a thread asking for help on raids. I would very much be interested in doing this. I am not flagged for shroud (not sure how to go about doing that). I would love to learn all the raids and the best way to do that is with guided help. Let me know when the next time is coming up and I will start working on flagging now.

Hello,
I run titan fairly regularly, but usually do the "get this done fast" type runs. If there is a reasonable amount of people/or if people don't mind waiting for raid to fill I'd be happy to help walk you through it. Catch me in game on Lepido or Rawel
or pm on forums.
Disclaimer: I'm not with AtD either but I do enjoy titan immensely.
Best,
Rawel
Ps.: Also for people like the last poster if you need to flag for things and don't quite know how feel free to ask. I can flag any of the raids in game solo(excepting tod unless you count casual) and so can tons of other high level players (probbly much better then I can).
/rant on
Just PLEASE ask for help with flagging before you join an LFM for the raid. Very few things are as
frustrating as getting 12 people for shroud jumping in and finding out that one of them hasn't made their stone yet and can't enter but has flagged the 5 quests. Trying to guide a person through the process from inside shroud is very painful.
I always feel bad for the person stranded outside but I have 10 people waiting in the instance wanting to run a raid that for
many of them is a bang/bang/bang/bang/bang done in 40 mins (in some cases 20) for the thousnadth time raid they want to run and be done with. Waiting for someone for 15-20 minutes is just usually not an option.

Just a little update. I didn't see a Trissa anywhere, but I did log in on my 14 bard and joined a single person LFG doing Shrieking mines all by himself. Turns out he was a fighter, soloing it, for his first time ever in the quest. I didn't have much to do with him completing it (one Illithid left & one ogre magi), but as soon as the quest was done, the party filled up quick- how's that for irony? I did get to shepherd one or two folks through the underwater tunnels, which let me test my memory.
We decided then to go ahead and do Ghola Fan. I believe the party leader had done it once, and one other person had been in there maybe more than once. It was great! I wasn't tempted to be Little Hitler, the pug just came together. No dedicated healer (my warchanter bard w/scrolls was it) and no caster (again, my bard provided haste & buffs) a couple rangers, no rogue, and a couple of monks. Kudos to those guys in the Restless Isles, it was fun.
Oh, and if you see a dorf named Bammerz scooting around in Stormreach, run with him. He was the party leader that solo'd both quests before any of us even made it there, then kept trucking along so others could get sigil pieces. Hat's off to you, Bammerz.

Hey guys - we are probably looking at this weekend for an official teaching raid - however a few of us are planning on running a couple of Shrouds this evening EST and will post that the Raid is new people friendly so please feel free to join the LFM if you are online.
We will look to the weekend - maybe Sunday night to run a Titan - please stay tuned!
Shroud flagging
1) Go to Meridia - first time in you will have to make the run
2) Talk to the NPC near the mailbox
3) Run the Vale Quests, Let Sleeping Dust Lie, Ritual Sacrifice, Running with the Devils, Coalsence Chamber & Rainbow in the Dark - each of these quests give you a pie piece
4) Take the pie pieces (remember to take them out of your ingredients bag) and talk to the NPC that's in the alcove/quad under the tavern - she will then direct you down the ramp where you will learn how to use the stone of change in there. She will give you ingredients to put in - do that first - then after that put all 5 of your pie pieces into the device and then presto chango you will have your signet stone.
5) Take that signet stone our of your ingredients bag and go back and talk to both NPC's - you will then get the quest "the Thirteenth Eclipse" that is the Shroud
Titan flagging
1) Go to the WayWard Lobster in the Harbour and get the HIPS (Hiding in Plain SIght) quest - run that quest
2) That gives you access to use the air ship NPC at the base of the Spire in the Marketplace who will let you get to the Restless Isles
3) at the Restless Isles you have to find in the underground tunnels the 2 quests - this is where I would suggest you post for someone to help you or find a map/directions on the forums
4) Complete the 2 quests Bring me the Head of Ghola Fan and Slavers of the Shrieking Mines (don't kill the miners!! :)
5) From each of these quests you get half of a broken sigil - take these 2 broken halves and talk to the NPC on the Restless Isles - he will repair your sigil - a repaired sigil grants you access to the Titan Raid
This is very cool of you guys +1 rep.
Good luck on the raids, hopefully you pull some nice gear for the new people.
