So my brother and i use the same account, but i use a joystick and he uses default controls, and they're both very different. it takes quite a long time to reset the keymapping things just the way i like them. is there some way that i can save my current key settings as a new thing. like it says "default" and "FPS" over on the right.

I don't know if you can add a configuration file that will appear in the menu, but the user-preferences and keymap local files on your computer are easy to find.
In Windows 7 you can go to My Documents > Dungeons and Dragons Online
There is a file named ddo.keymap. At the very least, you and your brother could save your own copies of these files into separate locations maybe?
Maybe someone who has tried this can chime in.

yeah exactly like you said. I reformat my computer ever month or two and simply save that file and then just drop it into the folder when I reinstall DDO so my keymapping is saved and I dont have to redo the information.

Yeah this is an easy fix...all you have to do is play log off it will auto save the keymap settings you last used.
Copy that to a floppy or someplace other than the DDO foldeer on your comp...then let you brother play and log off...save his settings to the same place you saved yours or a different place..whatever works for ya........as long as it's someplace other than the DDO folder where the game saves it too.
Now....when you go to play...simply rewrite the existing file in the DDO folder with either yours or his version before you launch.....wala.......sure it takes a little time but it's way faster than what your doing now.
You may both wanna make a copy of ur user preferences....as you may have different setting for that as well......located in same place as the keymapping file.

Who is the older ?
You should be able to settle this through good ole fashion, sibling bludgeoning.
If you win, he learns to use the joystick, if he wins, you learn the qwerty!
This method of settling family issues has been tryed for years, and has settled many a score!

While a very interesting mouse...I cannot help but to think that no one with paws larger than an actual mouse (mammal) would be able to use it without a lot of mis-clicks. Does it just appear that way...if so I am buying one! :D

Takes getting use to but works great. I just can't get use to the two by the left click button. But then again I used this for the last dozen years

So just moving a mouse around seems odd to me

I have this same beautiful mouse. It's actually why I decided to try an MMO.
I hotkeyed those buttons (4 & 5 IIRC) to two menu bar slots for ranged and melee weapons. Works well for me.
Have you managed to work out a system for targeting other bars than #1?

i got this mouse about 2 weeks ago now.
before hand i read lots of reviews noting the small size but decided i'd look for myself and send it back if needed.
definitely enjoy playing with it. not perfect yet but even in the first few hours the addition of the 3-4 buttons i learnt quickly was enough.
i've now got about 8 down pat which is currently enough for my ninja monk and the buttons i have to look at are used for time saving macro's (one being '/sit')
i've a hand span (thumb tip to little finger stretched) of about 9 inches so not tiny by any stretch.
