I'm facing a dilemma with one of my favorite toon: advice appreciated.

I have an elf ranger: currently at lvl 7 (ranger5/rogue2). She only has a base constitution of 10 (with the cloven necklace +2=12), but great ice weapons, unfortunately bound and binded. Rogue skills (search, spot, disable traps) are close to 20's. Her Str-18, dex-19, con-12, int-12, wis-14, cha-8.
I am at a dilemma right now because of the feats which I did not do correctly: She has the following feats: diehard, toughness (acquired twice), THF, and TWF.
I recently acquired an imperfect sibery's shard from the Irestone Inlet (elite) and am considering a switch with Fred. I noted from some ddo players that as a toon's level go up, so does the requirement for the shards and gps for an exchange. Before she hits lvl 8, I would like to make the exchange. I thought about rerolling, but that means all the gps spent on those two ice weapons bought at the AH would be wasted.
Hope to buy a 1+ constitution tome someday to increase her constitution score.

My questions boil down to:

1) For the feat exchange, is it better to trade away one of the two toughness for something like "dodge", or is it better to trade away the THF for "dodge".
2) At level 8, I will get another tome, is it wise to invest in the constitution and hopefully buy another +1 constitution tome later on, which should boost her adjusted constitution to 14.
3) Use ranger and rogue enhancements on "dexterity" boost.

I think it's better to bite the bullet and pay Fred the outrageous feat now rather than later. Plus I would need another imperfect shard hopefully before level 8 to adjust all the mistakes I have made. She is one of my favorite toons: good ranger and rogue abilities, I just don't want to kill her. Appreciate any input. I am learning this game by trial and errors, but unfortunately have made plenty of misjudgements. Thank you all for your input.

OK a few things.

There is a NPC in the market that will give you a small trivia quest to get a free feat exchange. I forget name and am blocked from looking it up here at work.

Get rid of THF for Weapon Finesse.

Yes, get the Dex boost enhancements.

2 +1 CON tomes will NOT stack. You will need to get a +2 Con tome to raise it higher.

As far as exchanging feats, I will leave that to people who understand builds and exactly what all the feats do. However I can tell you that eating 2 +1 will not stack. If you eat a +1 tome you will need to eat a +2 or higher to see an increase in that stat.

Ok, a couple quick things. Before you spend money/shards on a feat exchange. There is a quest you can do in the marketplace that will get you 1 free feat exchange. Also, your stats only increase their bonuses on even numbers, so you would not get another bump in HP when you hit 12 (base)/14 Con. You mention getting a Tome at level 8; do you mean your stat bump that you get at every 4 levels? As far as feats, you need to drop THF since you get TWF for free as a ranger, drop the second toughness (you are not going to have enough feats as a ranger multi-class), and drop diehard. Honestly, if it weren't for your weapons, I would tell you to reroll. As a matter of fact, unless you bound the weapons, reroll.

1. Get rid of THF first. You may need to get rid of your 2nd Toughness as well, although with such a low Con you could also keep it if you can (really depends on what's your feat plan). Diehard must go as well if you really picked it (rangers get it for free). *EDIT* Never mind about DieHard, you can't have picked it, you only got 3 feats, that must be THF and Toughness x2 (they should have been Dodge, Mobility and Spring Attack to get Tempest I asap).
2. Not entirely sure what you mean here, but tomes don't stack.
3. You can't get both lines of +Dex enhancements, only take the Ranger one since it's your main class.

I'm not sure what's your planned final class split, but if you actually reroll, consider not adding this 2nd level of rogue, which isn't much useful in the long term.

Edti: Btw try to find a friendly player to give you the lowbie respec shards. Don't use your free feat exchange until you need one of the last 2 tiers of shards.

Well, the most obvious recommendation that should be made here is that you should Re-roll. It strikes me that you are going to delete this character eventually (or abandon it). However, on the note of Re-rolling I will give you some advice since you are level 7. I find that when I was favor running to 500 on most servers, that it was around level 7 to 9 that I was getting the 400 or 500 overall favor, needed for Drow and Turbine Point milestones respectively. If you have yet to hit 400 overall favor, I would suggest suffering to it first. If you hit 400 but are pretty close to 500, same thing.

I'll leave someone else to make suggestions on how to improve your character - in my opinion it would be a waste of your shard to try getting the necessary feats, or dumping things like tomes. These are things you could use on a Re-roll. If you need help on how to make your Re-roll, someone else was talking about the 'thief/ranger' just recently so it might be best to go to that thread and start grabbing some opinions from there instead of making a new thread.

I have kind of the same problem....I want to go Tempest, but took the wrong feats originally. I have Dodge, but I still need Spring Attack and Mobility. I am currently a 5 Ranger / 2 Rogue. I love this toon and don't want to re-roll. I think I can take one of those feats at next level up and then do a feat exchange to get the 3rd required feat for Tempest I.

I don't think the two +1 Tomes will stack. I could be wrong. I think your second tome would need to be a +2 Tome. As Ranger you get TWF for free, so drop that one for sure. You should drop THF feat also for Mobility or Spring Attack so you can get Tempest I.

This is indeed correct, a second +1 Tome for one you already used would not increase your stats.

I think you got diehard for free at ranger lvl 3, since you also listed TWF wich you got for free too. You should go dodge mobility spring attack only if you are going the Tempest route. If not those are pretty much wasted feats. With such low con I'm tempted to suggest you keep the second toughness until you can equip a +6 con item. If you have the turbine points you may want to look into a Lesser Reincarnation and swap the stats around. Also why two levels of rogue? you get evasion at 9 ranger. Maybe check out the exploiter build it seems like what you are going for.

Correct that 2nd level of Rogue doesn't mean much at end game, but you can get evasion at 2nd level Rogue instead of waiting for lvl 9 Ranger. Evasion for 7 extra levels of play is valuable, and having that 2nd level of Rogue won't gimp your character.

What is consider a decent constitution: 12 or 14. If it's 12, I should be getting another ability score increase at level 8 and hopefully if I do come across a 1+ constitution tome, she would have 12. Get another +2 constitution item (like the necklace from Shan-to-Kor) and the net effect is a constitution of 14.
I agree with the thought changing THF for dodge and just dumping enhancements into dexterity. What do you think. I will reroll once this toon is exhausted. Too many investments have gone into this toon: purchase of two ice swords and +5 disable gloves. As some suggested, will keep the second toughness until the constitution problem is fixed.
P.S. I've learned my lessons: all new toons of mine now all come with constitution of 14 as a standard. My newest barbarian has 16 constitution. Thank you all for your input.

What I would do is talk to the girl in market (Lockania??) and get a free feat change. If you find the quest name and search it someone has typed out what you need to say to get the free feat.

Second Drop start getting yourself ready for tempest. Tempest= 10 percent attack speed while dual weilding


To get Tempest you need Mobility, Dodge, Spring Attack
