Hello all, Xenell here. I'm fairly new, and understand all the basic concepts of the game. I'm frustrated though. How can I target others with my healing spells, offensive spells, laying on hands, etc... I just can't seem to figure out how! Help please? And thank you in advance!

3 ways:
Click on their avatar;
Click on their name bar;
Use F1 - F12 to select them in order of name bars.
This is pretty simple stuff, and covered in the manual which is in the game install folder. It's also available from the DDO website.

Hi Xenell, welcome to the game!
You have to select a player before you can hit him with a spell. Selected players will be highlighted in the party roster and be shown in the globe at the bottom left of your screen. When you cast a cure spell now, it will hit the selected player.
Please note, there are some spells which can be cast on yourself only (like the shield spell from a wizard), so even if you select another player, the spell will hit yourself, not the other player.
To select a player there are several options:
a) (best one in my opinion) Press F1 to select player one in your party (yourself), F2 for player 2 and so on (until F12 for player 12 in a raid party).
b) click on the players character with you mouse
c) click on the name of the character in the party roster
Hope that helps.
(Edit: Arnya was faster than me...)

I prefer to click on the player's name in the group list rather than the F# keys.
