I think I might be missing the point to this spell. It seems like a greater dispell with a much longer casting time and cooldown. As far as I know, mobs don't use magic items so no point in casting that against them, and I couldnt cast it in tavern pvp.
Whats the role for this spell in my arsenal? To date I've only seen it used in a few traps in the IQ.

At present, it's only powerful when used against us. The Black Abbot uses it (very rarely), and Lailat uses it in Epic ADQ1.
Future bosses may buff themselves more - in which case it's a more effective Greater Dispelling (IIRC it's more likely to dispel spells than GD is).
You could ask that same question for just about the entire lvl 8 and 9 spell list and still have a legitimate question :)
Ironically, there's a LOT of high level spells that are vastly depreciated or for a lack of better word, SUCK. Lower level spells are on average much more useful. Mordenkainen's is at least marginally useful at times. The same cannot be said for spells like horrid wilting, sunburst, any power word spell, etc.
Unfortunately it seems like it will be a *long* time before spells get a look-over by the devs. They seem happy with what we currently have.

I'm a pretty positive guy on here, but this spell ticks me off. One very specific instance where it ticks me off is on giants buffed my Sor'jek's Command. MJ *should* have at least a remote shot at dispelling that.
Arg it bunches my panties all to hell. (Don't tell the wife about the panties)

I ended up taking it to free up a 6th level slot, so I guess it has a purpose.
I've only ended up using dispells to either get rid of displacement on mobs when I'm not otherwise debuffing them, a stop gap if I don't have break enchantment slotted, and to debuff ninja looters in Spawn of Whisperdoom (say good bye to your acid resist and FOM, jerk).
So I don't use it that much, so cooldown and casting time shouldn't be a problem.

Also, I noticed that greater dispell is capped at lev 20, but disjunction has no max. Maybe it's a good spell for TR's?

I see no means by which TRing increases the spell caster level, but do understand that once the cap is raised indefinitely that the spell would also increase unlike all other spells, not needing Heighten due to its pre-Heightened nature.
Else, it's a really thorough Dispel.

There will most likely not be another level cap increase for a number of reasons:
1) Anything beyond 20 levels is considered Epic, and is beyond the "normal" level progression in D&D
2) We now have Epic quests, designed for capped characters
3) True Resurrection has been implemented, and can be done by a character that has reached the maximum level (which is twenty)
4) We've literally traveled to HELL to fight the forces of evil. What else is left?
Nope. It's doubtful that there will be another level cap increase.

Xoriat itself, Daelkyr and their creations... Various other incredibly ancient evils entombed below the surface of Eberron. The ones that were too strong to be killed, so instead they were sealed away. The rakshasa rajahs for example, whose servants the Lords of Dust constantly scheme to free, or assume the powers of their fallen masters.

lol
Perhaps I should have clarified, that question was a bit rhetorical. ;)
I wasn't looking for an answer. The question signified that our characters arose from the wreckage of a ship, traveled the world vanquishing various evils, and finally brought the fight to the depths of hell itself to face the enemy.
What else is left?
(get it now?)
Seriously though, I doubt there wil be another cap increase for the reasons that I've stated in the last post, so while MDJ may become useful in other raids as yet to come, or higher level quests yet to be created, I wouldn't count on any epic level quests (and by epic level quests I mean 21+, not Epic difficulty).
