Assuming most f2p players are new players; Then here are some hints to advance and get things done:
Have your sound on, make sure your speakers are working, etc. If it is sleep time for the household, grab some earphones and plug them in, they do not have to be headsets. Listening is a simple thing, and if you do not understand comment,or ask.
Not knowing and asking is much better than being silent and a burden. At some point people will notice you don't have a clue, so trying to hide it by not communicating makes it even worse.
Communication is very key in this game. Hence all that listening and asking jibberish.
If you want to run offf by yourself and explore, make sure the party is willing to accept your demise. Exploring is great, and the mystery of a new quest is always fun, but if its a pug, then try to stick with the main party and try to get lost together if no one has a clue.
Following instructions is usually another important skill, usually they the instructions are helpful, and so try to stick with them. Doing more or extra isnot always a good thing, since it can be as detrimental as it can be useful if at all.
For those who care.
Such skills help in learning a quest with experienced/good intent players.
Helped me to become a competent noob.
